Hi,

I joined a while back, but have never posted. I have been cycling most of my life, but have been off and on when it comes to anything serious. I have been back riding for about 3 weeks now and I am extremely motivated.

I am 58 years old and a retired elementary school principal. I live in Edwardsville, IL, the St. Louis end of Illinois, not Chicago. Therefore, a St. Louis sports fan! I ride 12 to 15 miles a day right now as I build myself up again. I need to lose about 40 pounds to be pretty happy with myself again.

I play guitar and sing and do school assemblies and library story hours as a Children's musician/storyteller. It is great fun and keeps me somewhat still involved with education and children. I am happily married with 2 grown sons and 3 great stepkids (20, 17, and 14).

I hope this is an appropriate post and I haven't said too much or too little.

Mark

Mark, that was a good introductory post except for one thing...

What kind of bike have you got?

Your 'retirement' job sounds like a lot of fun, indeed!

Welcome to BF!

I have a GT Virage which I dearly love. It is about 9 or 10 years old now, but I haven't seen anything yet I would replace it with. I guess it would be considered a "fitness" bike now because of the geometry.

I tried to get on the "wanted to Buy" section, but it told me I needed to upgrade my membership. That's fine, unless it costs a fortune, but where do I do it? I tried on the link to joining, but it told me I already existed. :)

Any and all help would be appreciated. Any acoustic guitar players on here?

It costs $25 to become what is essentially a life member (30 years).

Go to your User Control Panel (top right corner)
Down to Miscellaneous (left side)
Paid Subscriptions
You can pay via PayPal--it's quite easy actually.

I think that there's at least a few acoustic guitar players here...try the 50+ forum.

Yup. Been lusting after a Marting D28 forever...but I play electric too.
