I'm thinking about getting these XT STM760 STI Brake/Shift Levers http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=6000104&subcategory=60001195&brand=&sku=12215&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Shifters%2FBrake%20Levers%20%2D%20Mountain
on sale for 99 (reg. 207)
Mainly my interest is in using dual control levers. i saw my first example of them recently in the XTR flavor at the LBS in town.
so is 99 bucks an amazing deal for what these levers have to offer?
is there a better product that i should be looking into as an alternative?
your advice is greatly appreciated +]
I have them on my bike, I am happy with them. The only drawback is going to easier gears in the rear is one gear at a time, instead of a big push to get 3 gears like on thumbshifters. Other than that I really like them.
Buy them here for $73 and I'm sure shipping is cheaper than trashbar also. http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/SL703B01-Shimano+Xt+St-M760+Levers.aspx

ooo... so i was about to ask you to clarify that after pouring over shimano's website, including this: http://bike.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/Deore-XT/RearDriveSystem/SI_6JJRD_En_v1_m56577569830605056.pdf
but i've come to recognize the consistency of your claim.. so you can shift two gears, but only higher....
interesting. the last thing i'm needing to wrap my brain around is how this would operate using low-normal vs. top-normal deraiuler.. i wonder what i have +]
by the way, i removed the "auxillary release levers", it seemed stupid to have them. I also run the low normal xt rd-m760 rear derailleur. Can you go to an lbs and test ride a bike with this setup, might be a good way to see if you like it. It's really a love/hate arrangement, but after years on thumbshifters, I could go either way. I got a deal on the new ones and wanted to give them a shot, but I don't necessarily think they are much better or worse than thumbshifters, just different.
