f1junkie
It’s very sad I have to say good-bye to an old friend, so forgive me if I am being sentimental with this post.
Up for sale is my beloved Litespeed Ultimate frame. I bought it used 2 years ago as I was getting back into cycling – what a way to get back in, eh? I’ve used it well for those two years, getting back into shape in both body and soul.
First question you are all asking – why am I selling it? Simple, it’s just a tad too large for me. Plain and simple, otherwise, of course I could keep this “sex on two wheels” for the rest of my cycling career, I mean, who wouldn’t? Just look at it, it’s gorgeous! Polished titanium through and through.
So here are the specs, as best measured by me.
Centre to centre seat tube – 56 cm
Centre to top seat tube – 59.5 cm
Top tube centre to centre – 56 cm
Head tube length – 15.5 cm
This fits most guys roughly 5’ 10” and above. I am 5’ 8” (darn it!!!)
It has a 1 inch threadless Kinesis fork, carbon legs with a steel steerer. Headset is the wonderful Chris King, and stem pictured is Titec titanium in 105mm size. It will also come with extra stems – a black 130mm Control Tech double bolt (in 1 1/8” with shim), and a gorilla-arm silver Control Tech 140mm single clamp. The silver stem was bought used but never used by me, the black one was used on a bike for rollers. Both Control Tech stems fit 26.0mm bars, and of course by the pics you can see a Salsa Pro Road 42cm handlebar attached to the Titec stem, which is of course included.
For those of you curious as to the lack of livery, the decals were pretty trashed when I received the frame (like other Litespeeds), and so I decided to remove them. You can sort of make out where they were located upon closer inspection.
The Easton 27.2mm aluminum seat pin is also included, it was cut down by me and so is pretty short, I doubt you would be able to use it if your centre of BB-to-top of saddle height is more than 75cm, but it’s worth holding onto to hand to that sexy rider with a smaller road bike!
Look at the bottom bracket area – probably the sexiest part of the bike for me. It fits an English BB, which is not included. Look at that beautiful curve in the seat tube as it reaches the BB – Schwing!!!!
Derailleur is tab-type, also noticeable in the pics.
Rear wheel spacing is of course the ubiquitous 130mm.
Rear brake cable routing - she has a full length housing running through the top tube on the left side, which is why you see the housing...
You can see cheapo Campagnolo cable guides (yes – it can take down tubes shifters!!!), but I am including a set of new Campy Record alloy cable guides for more bling!
The LAST PIC is simply how my baby looked in full trim – to give you an idea of the possibilities!
I think that is it for the specs. Now comes the crazy part – letting this go is almost like letting a child leave home for the first time. You want the best for your child, no matter what. Be mindful that I am looking for someone to treat this frame like a queen. It's not so much the $$$ as finding a good home for her...
I will also not entertain traveling to show the frame – if you want to seriously see it – the only area I will show it is in the Markham/Steeles area in the Toronto (Canada) area, period.
Sorry if I’m bordering on paranoid but you have to understand I am having a hard time letting go of my “baby”.
So think of this like a job interview – show me that you’re the best candidate, not just the first with the $$$. I wouldn’t do that to her, she’s not a tramp, after all, but an elegant, classy lady!
So there’s my crazy “application process”. I’ve done stranger things before. Hope you enjoyed my tirade, and I look forward to hearing from those of you willing to put up with me. I’m just looking for the best home for her…
