So I recenly moved to NY and couldn't bring my bike up with me. I've been looking for a used 49-51cm beater up here and I can't find a used bike under 53cm for the life of me. Anyone have any ideas? im looking to spend as little as possible ($300ish) till I have the cash to get a real one... i just cant stand to keep giving the MTA my money!
Thanks

Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live
They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Round here
Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love
They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People

Bikes Direct sells several bikes in the 49-52cm range. Although they're not used, they're certainly cheap.
But I doubt you need a frame that small if you're 5'7".

where in NY are you? there is a LBS in the Bronx, in Throggs Neck, Tremont ave, who had some NOS lugged frame Nottingham TI Raleigh Record in his basement. Low standover height which probably might matter to you. And other stuff too. Castle Hill Bikes. Look'm up.
i look all the time on ebay for high end frames 49cm, they are rare.

my significant other is 5 foot nothing and finding a proper size road bike was next to impossible. i finally found a bianchi that fit her. the frame is about the size of a 24 inch bmx frame and she has to use 26 inch wheels with road tires instead of 700c just so she can touch the ground. and the quill stem is only 30mm!
But I doubt you need a frame that small if you're 5'7".
I'm 5'8" and I ride a 52cm. Anything bigger and I end up t baggin the frame.

At 5'7'', my 49 cm steamroller fits me almost perfectly. The 53 cm (next size up a la Surly) would have been stretching it. Not saying this will be the case for the OP. Just saying.

Im 5'8" and ride a 51 and 53. Ive never thought the sizes were hard to find, but I may have just been lucky.
5'10", I ride a 56. are you sure that you want a 50?
I'm 5' 8" with a 30" inseam and ride 53 to 54. I have short legs and long torso. Top tube length is another consideration.

Since we're sharing, I'm 5'4" and ride a 51.5 track bike with more than a fistful of seatpost.

With road bikes, us small guys can go up to a 56 on a road bike frame. As long as you get an inch of clearance for your private parts, the bike should be OK even if it is not an ideal size.
