Is anyone around here planning to ride the Bike Psychos Century next weekend (Aug 26)? Just curious.

Couple of people are in, I think. Click here (http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=321818) for an older discussion.
The more northerly BFNIC'ers may hop across the border for the Cream City Century in Waterford.

I'll be at the Bike Psychos. I plan on starting around 8AM for the 50 mile route.
i did this ride last year and recommend it. the 100 miler was a nice route that partially runs along the Illinois river and around Starved Rock. plenty of rest stops, i think 5 total, for those doing the longer 124 option. there was a large turnout last year that made for some fun and fast pack riding. well, until we hit the Starved Rock area and a little roller that blew the group up. some guy on the front just blasted up that hill ;).
anyway, i am on the fence with the ride. i want to do it, but have not been on the bike much this month. through in a birthday extravaganza party on saturday with family in town just to complicate matters. i likely will not make the call until friday or saturday.
if i can make i am all in for a meet up and an early start. later.

I'm going to try and make it even though I'm on business travel all this week (hence no riding). Maybe I'll show up with my single-speed and try to ride a metric or something. Of course that depends on what that "hill" Aham23 talks about is like. Hmmmm. Nah, how bad could it be?

Ride Link (http://www.bikepsychos.org/) for those looking or needing it.
there were a couple short steep hills, but nothing major. some nice roads in and around the state parks over by starved rock. i rode some of the ride last year with a dude on a single speed. he had a tough time on some of the rollers though :). later.

I rode the 100 mile course last year - probably one of the more memorable experiences I've had on a bike. I'm not sure if I'm riding this year, if I do, it won't be the 100. I haven't been on the bike enough this year (stupid busy life) and the 100 would just be asking for pain/failure/demoralizing-defeat. I may ride the 50. My brother and I always ride together, but he'll be out of town for the event too, making it less likely that I am to be there.

I'm planning on riding this ride. I'll be doing the 126 mile route and will be starting early right after they open up registration.
i rode with a guy last year for a good part of the ride. we parted ways around mile 70ish or so. if i recal the first name correctly it started with a J?
are you out there Mr J ?
i wonder how you finished up as i think it was your first century.
later.

I'm riding the 70 at Bike Psychos instead of Cream City Century. I realized this one is way closer for me than going up north plus it looks scenic and nice. Planning on starting at 7:30. Crystal

I will be there!! Really looking forward to it!! Haven't had a tour ride since Ramble :(
I'm hoping the weather is nice!!, cause I'm going for the full century!!, hubba hubba!:D:D:D
i am in. first let me through out some excuses in classic BFNIC fashion. i have not been on the bike much. only three rides this month with the longest being 35ish. i feel like i have totally lost my cycling form.
so, 70 easy miles seems like a good number since i rolled off 11 miles running today. heck, the run was fueled by pizza and birthday cake (my 2 year olds). i love me some cake :).
i think registration opens up at 630am. i need to be on the road by 7am. i think i will sport the BFNIC Jersey, oh wait, we dont have one. looks like it will be the black and red SoCal BF jersey. if you fly by me say hello!! later.
