Do any of you know of some good bike shops in the Portland area that are capable of frame repairs? I live in Utah and will be traveling to the Portland area in a couple of week and would like to get my mid 80's Schwinn Cimarron frame repaired. Both seat stays are cracked at the top, right near the braze holding them to the seat tube. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance, Bob

Frame repairs are pretty specialized, as I'm sure you know. Check in with Sellwood Cycle(http://www.sellwoodcycle.com/). . . my favorite in Portland. They deal with lots of vintage stuff and can probably give you a referral. (There are many stores in Portland that rank high, however.)

Who knows, you may wander out of Sellwood saying, "What a bunch of jerks!" too. . .

Cool thanks, I will give them and call and see what I can stir up.

Yeah lots of good shops...but I'm not sure about ones that could repair your frame. A couple of shops that might be able to help you out would be River City Bicycles and The Community Cycling Center might be able to help you out as well.

Not sure if I am too late, but Dave Levy is good. Not cheap, but very professional. 503-621-9670
