Northeast - The OTHER CBR--Save the Date

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now that you've had so much fun and camaraderie on the Lancaster Covered Bridges Ride, you might want to mark your calendar for the other Covered Bridges Ride, the annual fall classic hosted by the Central Bucks Bike Club, in Bucks County (PA), on October 14, 2007:

No offense intended to other clubs, but CBBC's hospitality, scenic roads and support compare favorably with anyone's! The CBBC CBR is a great ride to wind down the "event" season here in the NE.

Why do members of this club always try to convince everyone that their ride is better than the Lancaster CBM? I hear this every year and I don't understand it.
I would love to come but I will be in Austin doing the Livestrong ride on that day. I know a good group of BFers come to the ride...have a great time, I am sure it is a fine ride...but let it stand on it's own merits rather than compare it to the Lancaster ride.

Love both, but see no reason not to compare the Lancaster and Bucks County (CBBC) CBRs (don't think the OP said CBBC was better)
- support? CBBC food is easily the best
- scenic? both are nice, CBBC has more leaves, Lancaster more horses, both have farms and covered bridges
- challenging? neither are flat but CBBC is substantially more challenging
- weather? Lancaster can be really hot (2 yrs ago), CBBC can be cold (last year)
So if it was a contest, I'd give the nod to CBBC for food (mmm, brownies) and the more challenging route

... and less horse poop on the roads.
Seriously though, I enjoy both rides for different reasons. I think that people may try to "pump up" the Central Bucks ride because it traditionally has had a smaller Bike Forums turn out than the Lancaster ride. However I think that's due to timing (end of season vs. mid-season) and potential bad weather (rain at 70 degrees is an inconvenience; at 50 degrees it down right sucks).
