I just bought a bontrager(truvativ) 53/39 to put on my triple trek1000.I did not think about botom bracket width. Is this an issue? The Sheldon brown chart shows only one size square spindle for truvativ.
Thanks in advance.

You need a longer BB.

You need a longer BB.

Triple to double? BB will be shorter to move in the chainline.

For some reason I assumed I would need a shorter one as I am dropping one chainring
Im a little confused?

Triples need the longer BB axle, double need a shorter one. Now that's assuming you don't have outboard bearing cranks. What type of new crank DO you have? That will help in the discussion greatly.
