I am trying to help out a friend that is new to tandems. He has a nashbar cargo trailer and needs a special skewer for the 145mm spacing. The skewer that nashbar uses looks like a piece of rod that is just threaded on both ends. Can someone tell me if one like this is available or will we need to have one custom made?

I had no trouble finding a quick release skewer for our Trek tandem at my lbs. I used it on the trailer before switching to a Draftmaster.

Hmmm, my LBS tried to get me a longer skewer for my trailer, but Trek said the normal skewer is the only one and that it would work, so I am using it. I was told that the standard skewers wouldn't work, the skewer needed to be strong enough for towing.
If it uses the same mechanism as the BOB Trailer, the BOB Trailer has a skewer for 145 mm spacing. (and 160mm for Santanas)

I dont know if it uses the same set-up as a bob trailer or not. If someone could post a close up pic of a bob trailer mounting skewer it might solve my problem.
