Anybody done it? I'm going to have a day in Yosemite with no family responsibilities this week, and I'm wondering if I should bring my road bike. I did find this (http://www.chainreaction.com/tiogapass.htm) on the Chain Reaction web site and it sounds like a good ride. Just curious if anyone else has been up there.

I've driven on Tioga Pass Rd a few times but I don't know if I'd want to bike though there. People drive fast and there often isn't much of a shoulder in many areas. But the good thing is that you'll be there on a weekday so there will be fewer cars/RVs.

It is a beautiful area if you decide to go.

Wear bright clothes and have a rear blinkie. Isn't Tioga Pass one of the passes on the Death Ride?

No, the death ride goes out from Markleeville, about 20 miles south of Lake Tahoe. It goes over Monitor, Ebbets and Carson Passes.

Traffic should not be too bad on weekdays, after Labor Day, and before 10am. Summer weekend afternoons can be a zoo.
