When I inspected my fork/headset (Cane Creek IS integrated headset), I noticed that one of the rings is ‘broken’. This--I believe--is an internal spacer or compression ring (not sure...). It is still perfectly round, but there is a slight, straight cut-out in it.
Can anybody tell me whether this is by default (it doesn’t look really damaged) and whether I should head for a replacement?
The reason for inspecting my headset was that the fork had considerable play. After reinstalling, retightening all parts, everyting seemingly works fine.
I just want to be sure that I am not wrecking my beloved bike by continuing riding it.
