There's the BF'er SF Tour this Thursday. Should be a nice BF'er crowd.

I'm going to keep trying to get into Lighthouse Century in SLO. It's a great ride, but it's sold out. It's at the end of September.

The Grizzly Century on October 6th really looks like something I just need to do. I have to resolve some scheduling conflicts first, though.

Good luck! I'd be tempted, but I just couldn't deal with getting passed up the hill by those kids on unicycles!

The price of gas pretty much doubles the cost of most organized rides today, so I've cut way back. I did sign up for Foxy's Fall Classic metric ride, though. I might also do the Giro D'Vino in November.
The only I'm definitely planning on is the Tahoe Sierra Century (http://www.tahoesierracentury.com/) on Sept. 22. I may do a couple more road races this season. Can't do Dunnigan Hills but the Suisun Crit on Sunday is a possibility.

Great - now I've got this mental image of the face plant that poor guy on the unicycle would endure!
My conflict that weekend has to do with custody of the kids - and I have them all day on the 7th. Want to babysit?

the mental image would eventually fade away but the mental anguish of a unicycle finishing before you would haunt you for life.
Kids, there is your support team to hand you water bottles on the climb, wave a flag in your face, etc. Better yet have them take care of the unicycle.

LOL - it is sad, though - I've spent the last 3 months going up Diablo at least once a week, and often 2 or 3 times, and I still can't beat the best time the fastest unicycler set last year.

Sometimes on Weds. evenings, hitting the south gate between 5:30 and 6:00, often with some of the people I was training with from earlier in the year; other times just when I can fit a ride in my schedule (I have an understanding boss....). Those Weds. evening rides are going to have to start getting earlier soon.

Hey maybe we'll see each other! I will most likely be sporting the NorCal jersey so say hey if you see me.
By the way, the Auburn century is coming up soon and I have nobody to ride with yet  Which ride are you doing?

On the tandem we have the Beat the Clock Time Trial in a week and a half, a self-supported century around Lompoc/Solvang in late Sept., the Foxy's Fall Century in Oct., and nothing yet for Nov. or Dec. In between then we're always up for some fun...but we're trying to stay away from organized rides because we found during the Marin century that we have low tolerance for other cyclists' rudeness and ignorance of the rules of the road. We'd rather ride with other like-minded folks without the hoards.
Obviously, we aren't eschewing all organized rides. Just being picky about the ones we do.

I know it is. I'm thinking about signing up for the "Lone Ranger" just because I can always bail out to the "Outlaw" if I wanted to.
I'm doing this ride w/ a bunch of Auburn, Rocklin, Granite Bay locals. Some of which I know and some of which I don't know. So you're more than welcome to join us.
Not sure if my NC Jersey will be in yet.

I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good excuse to ride fast for 10 miles. Then you can suck the tandem peloton to Peet's and discuss the event. That you don't ride tandem is no excuse. They have other categories. :)

We did that this last April and got doored in downtown Chico. We'll think on this one before we commit to it.
My first reaction is to ride the route before or after the organized ride, just to avoid the inevitable crowds. But we'll see -- we have plenty of time.

I'm really tempted to do this. It sounds like a fair enough ride, but I've never done an event. I always ride solo, so I wouldn't know what to do at an organized thing like this.

It'll only be my third event and my very first century. We can ride together, if you like, though you might be too fast for me. I average 12 - 14 mph only.

Team Alameda & the Cherry City Cyclists are putting together an epic Mt Tam route from SF next Saturday, 9/1. 70 miles no drop. We are leaving Alameda at 8am so we should be in the City around 830-900.
Please join us if you think this ride works for you. :)

Well then maybe we should both make it our first century and make it a very good day. If you're already in, or know you will be going, I'll sign up myself.

Just ride it like you'd normally ride. Be sure to grab a tandem's wheel to give yourself a break. And be sure to stop and eat -- food is good, and plentiful. The ride is beautiful and challenging without being un-doable; you'll have a good time.

So I saw Red Rider mention doing Foxy's Fall next month, and I'll be going to it as well. Anyone else going to be there?
I'll be there, but we're doing the family ride (->short & cheap). Depending on how we feel, we may make up our own ride since we know the roads out there.

Nothing planned beyond that. But Mr. Frog's Wild Ride sounds interesting.
I'll probably end up doing a lot of self supported near centuries through the winter.

My wife has class that day and I have my two little people. That 40km family ride is right up my alley. Riding a mountain bike pulling 100lbs of burley and kids will feel like a century. :p
