very beautiful, Mom! Up here in Ann Arbor a lot of the more accomplished lady cyclists of our age have custom Serottas as well, mainly Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society members. I'd love to see Mrs. Road Fan on one!

I had to tip the nose down like that because when it was level I had quite a bit of discomfort in an unmentionable area. My hubby would not be happy if my new bike interferes w/our love life :D
I'm going back to the shop tomorrow to trade the saddle for something different, better, I hope.

it was sooooooo worth waiting for, Yen. I'm glad I was patient. It's amazing how much better this bike feels compared to my old one....night and day.

The brake levers have shims to accomodate my smaller hands, which may account for the "out there" look.
It's a 52 short w/44 cm handlebars, salsa short and shallow.
Boy, mom that sure is a pretty bike, congratulations.

Wow, if that's a 52 with the wheels so close to the crank ... my 48 Serotta's Chainrings must be mounted onto the front fork.

someone I was riding w/saturday pointed that out to me also, that my toes are pretty much level w/the front of the tire, actually overlap a bit. I haven't had a problem w/it. I only notice it when going slowly and turning sharply. I just have to keep in mind...I can't do that! I guess that is the result of the frame's compact geometry.
Hi,
Nice! :)
I hope that the person who fit you on the bike can get you set up with a better seat angle/seat as the current set up does not look conducive to long rides.
Otherwise a great looking ride and one that I know rides very well. I know you'll enjoy it.
I'm in the process of building up my 50th b-day Serotta Attack. :)
Beautiful!!
And the bike's name is????

Very nice looking bike ... and I don't always say that.
I too can't imagine riding with the seat set like that. I once tried it with about half that downward angle and my wrists and shoulders were hurting within 2 miles.
Hubby likes it. He said "Looks like another one to put on the list...." :D

Not to put too fine of a point on it, Jay Tee, but Eddie Haskell spelled his name "Eddie," not "Eddy." And we don't really know what color his bike was, as Leave It To Beaver was shot in Black and White.
Just sayin' ...

love that paint job, reminds me of my Fuji Ace (old steelie from the 70s)
saddle comfort is one thing, but iff'n you gotta angle it like that then you just might be stretching it all a bit.
level the saddle and try pedaling with your heels on the pedals. If you have to rock your hips to do that, you're way too high. Drop the seat until you can pedal w/heels and legs are stretched. Level that saddle or real close - your wrists will appreciate it and your husband will also. Fine tune from there - mm not inches.
AS flexibility increases so will your ability to bring it up a bit again.
If the saddle sucks, go saddle shopping.

A honey brown "one" with matching leather bar tape would not be too OCP. And as for a name, how about "Golden Coach" after a certain story.

Yes that will be lovely and I will keep it in mind for future incarnations. Great idea!
Cyclezen, Cleave, Bluesdawg, you are right, this saddle angle is atrocious. It's an adjustment I made myself just to get through the weekend. This saddle is ..........it's cheap, it's the only inferior item in the kit and I'm not happy w/it at all. After 20 miles, I tipped the nose down just to make it tolerable till I can get to the shop (today) and trade it for something better. I didn't notice the irritation on the initial 2-3 mile test ride around the neighborhood at the bike shop.
The original angle would probably be OK w/a better saddle. I know for sure the seat height is just right. But this saddle is really soft, and it rubs and it hurts! I need something firmer  (ok ok no comments from the peanut gallery SaiKaiTai, so just you shush!)
Yen, I hope you will give a Serotta a test ride. I knew I was on to something special after the first mile. It rides like a dream.
I will re-post pics after I get the saddle corrected. Unless is stops raining in which case I will be riding :D
Cleave, tell us more about about 50th birthday Attack? Do you have pics? Are you building it yourself?

At the risk of being admonished by the saddle-police, perhaps consider a Brooks titanium B17. You'll not find it on the weight-weenie list of saddles, but it's about 1/3 lighter than regular B17 saddles. At mile 150, it dawned on me that my B17 felt pretty good on my Saluki, and I've already bought a black titanium B17 for my unassembled Serotta.

What!!! you rode it before telling us about it. As a penance you are doomed to keep that saddle position for a week.
Looks great- Good job DG's away for a few days- otherwise he would be pulling the bike to bits because it is not white.

Sweet looking. Have fun.
Beautiful Bike. Orange bikes have extra Mojo.
I've already given you my pedal advice. High mileage riders like you often seem to gravitate towards Brooks. If you buy one from Wallingford Bike and don't like it you can return it. Not a bad way to try out a saddle.

Kinda like those "Yellow" freight carriers tractor trailers, which are painted orange.

Great looking bike! My ex-wife tried many saddles before settling on a Terry. Terry makes products for women. Personally, I cannot ride a Brooks. No disrespect to Brooks fans out there, but very few people I know ride them.
