Looking back over the '03 TdF, I can recall so many great moments. I've decided that VHP's brief stint in yellow is probably my favorite story from the Centenary Tour. As the Posties crossed the finish line for the Team Time Trial, Lance asked Pena "What color jersey do you want?"

In an interview before the TTT, Pena was asked about the possibility of wearing yellow. His answer was essentially "The boss (Lance) says it's OK, so it's OK." Pena is such a faithful domestique that some of the tifosi were upset to see the yellow jersey fetching water bottles from the team car.

To be the first Columbian to wear the yellow jersey, and to do so on the eve of his 29th birthday, makes VHP's Tour performance the more wonderful. His face as he donned the maillot jaune was a textbook illustration of ecstasy.

oh yeah.
I've even voted for him in the clif Bar domestique of
the year.
That was a hard one because I really think Chechu did
tons for Lance this year.
But VHP in the mailliot Jaunne was great.

Rubiera currently has 33%.

Heras and Hincapie are second at 22%

i voted for hincapie. he was an animal in the TTT, and huge on the low (and even middle) slopes of the mountains. he's getting to be a better and better climber each year. plus, he lives in greenville, where i am right now. gotta cheer for the local boy.

Not to highjack this thread, well at least not too much, I also voted for Hincapie early into the tour. After seeing Chechu working like an animal and coming back for more time and again, I really wanted to change my vote.

Regular guy,

I think Pena's glory was soon shrouded by the wildness in the mountains, but thanks for reminding me. It WAS cool to see him in yellow, though I would have liked to see a veteran like Ekimov in it too.

WHAT A TOUR (sigh)

I haven't gone to the clifbar site, but seeing Vinokourov helping Zabel in the final stage was special.
