Rans announced they are working on new connector design to compete with S&S type couplers.

I like RANS, but hex nuts and washers? Hopefully the actual take-apart design is a lot cleaner than that.

They really need to do this with their smallest bent which is the Rocket. Releasing a folding Rocket or one that disassembles would come out less expensive than the Bike Friday Bent.

IIRC the Ritchey Breakaway design (licensed by Dahon btw) uses hex.

I really don't see how a hex coupler will break down any faster than S&S or Ritchey, and it certainly won't be as fast as a Bike Friday or Dahon quick fold.

I suspect they just don't like, or don't want to use, the S&S couplers anymore....

Cadenza too, but I think for the Cadenza, the lockjaw only requires a 1/4 - 1/2 turn which is acceptable. We'll see how complicated RANS' is.
