Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Pretty Uncool Auction If You Ask Me...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey Folks -
Saw this on a popular auction site and thought it was pretty lame:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/PUMA-FIXED-GEAR-101-GUIDE-TO-TRACK-BIKES-PDF-Format_W0QQitemZ120153448539QQihZ002QQcategoryZ98084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I remembered saving this on my computer a while back, and so I e-mailed the first bidder and told him/her that he/she was being taken, and that I'd e-mail it for free if he/she wanted, and also hoped that another sucker would place a higher bid to get out of the auction. Of course anyone here who doesn't already have it can send me a pm or e-mail - it was free, after all...
So what are your opinions? Doesn't seem very friendly considering the SS/Fixed crowd is pretty easy going...
Cheers
Dave

This guy's been doing it for a while, and if you ask me, it's pretty ******y. If you look at closed auctions, some sucker actually paid $20+ for one a few weeks ago.

I can see why people think it's unscrupulous, but consumers are responsible for their own financial mistakes, especially considering the seller is not lying about the item.
Good job, OP, for messaging the bidder.

I bought a jar of genuine Ontario air from this guy a few months ago. Unfortunately it broke in the mail. I should have bought insurance.

I agree, this is stupid but people are buying it without doing some research, so I feel it is their problem. Caveat emptor, and all.

Its true.
The best was when the Xbox came out. Someone sold an Xbox box for over a grand. The ad clearly stated that it was just the box, but the game unit was not included.
Idiots cant read too well, apparently.

pretty uncool book if you ask me...
That book was totally worthless, i just read the one off of puma's site. has anyone ever read it and found /anything/ useful in it? It was pretty much just full of 100% common sense stuff.

Even more reason not to pay for it.
Maybe we could all flood his eBay account and ask - how much to ship to Nigeria? LOL...

The Classic and Vintage forum has a "Numbskull bike seller" sticky where people post ads with exaggerations, lies, and misinformation. eg. somebody selling a Schwinn Varsity for $500 because it'd make a great fixie.
For newbies coming in here looking for good info. a similar thread in SS/FG might not be a bad idea.
