Bought some ear covers, leg and knee warmers, gloves and a long sleeve black shirt and a 7 degree stem which makes a huge difference from the 5 degree I used to have.

Are those the ribbons from the Giro de Peninsula... a few months back? It's about time to take them off man! hehe! :p

Oh... as for what I bought... I need to paypal Thien for the alternate jersey and arm warmers.

Yup, those streamers were from Giro. Since I've been getting so many comments about them, I think I'll keep them on, in spite of everyone ... :D

They used to give out really nice tricolore ribbons instead of the cheapie streamers. Oh well, sign of the times.

Mine came off during the ride. Probably explains why I never got my "Knot Tying" merit badge in cub scouts.....

I'm spending money like crazy! Just got bit by the bug recently so...

1997 Lemond Zurich (this was a few months ago and started me down this slippery slope)
Forerunner 305 with HRM and Cadence sensor (3 weeks ago)
Park MTB tool, Innovations second wind pump, tire irons, CO2 cartridges, tubes, continental gatorskin
Motobecane Messenger (won't be delivered until Nov)
Norcal bib, jersey, arm warmers (won't be delivered until Nov)

Whew! Now that I listed it all out, I think I need to give my credit card a break for a while!

After the Messenger comes, I'll probably ride it stock for a while and then decide if anything is so crappy that it warrants replacement.

Niterider MOAB off of Craig's List.

Really powerful light. Tried the helmet mount, and gawd, it's heavy. Too heavy for my head. I'm just going to use the handlebar mount.

I've heard nothing but good things about this saddle. My prior Specialized saddle kicked ass too, but I decided to swap it out for a laughable offense.

I also got a Specialized long sleeve jersey thing that I can't find a picture of, some gloves and a bike jersey for the wife, new cable/housing (exciting), and some white cinelli cork tape. And then I overhauled my headset because I was bored... and it's a pain in my ass. I really hate my headset.

Well. I have to tell you guys it's definitely money well spent. I bought one about a month ago and use it every weeknight for an hour since it's dark when I get home. I got the Kinetic Road Machine and it's awesome! I finally checked out the Spinerval DVD that came with it last night at the midpoint and did the TT workout for the 2nd half. Great workout. I usually just park it in front of the tv and watch crap that's on TV. Video is much more motivating, other than Minnesotans need more sun.

Gave it a try last night. You're right. It can be a great workout always having some resistance. I loaded up an ipod with some movies and watched bits and pieces of a few them over the course of an hour. It's dark when I get home too so I can see how this can be useful. Definitely no buyer's remorse here.

A pair of Cannondale Synapse Sport road bikes for the wife and I. I've switched out both stems, my seatpost, put Topeak Explorer racks with tail lights on both, put campus pedals on both, had my bars re-wrapped, and ridden more of my fat ***** off. 260+/- miles and about 8lbs in 3 weeks.

I still love the Iron Horse, but this thing is wicked fast!! (first road bike)

It's definitely a new way to work out. I traditionally track my training using distance and elevation, so now I'll have to figure out how many hours at which resistance level is about equal to my climbs.

But my big purchase - my 50th birthday present to myself - a pair of last year's Sidi Ergo 1 shoes.

My latest purchase was a set of SRAM Rival shifters, $200 on eBay (NIB, 2008). I'll be picking up some other bits (FD, RD, cassette, cranks) over the next few weeks/months and get my road bike all full of SRAM-y goodness.

For the other guys' insurance! I fully expect the medical bills to top $20,000.
The ambulance ride was $1700, and the anesthesiologist bill alone was $2700.
That doesn't include the hospital fee for 3 days, 2 CT scans, an X-Ray, Neuro-surgery
doctors' fee, ENT doctor's surgery fee, Opthamology doctor's fees, and the
back brace (and bunch more stuff I missed for sure).

That's on top of replacing my bike and cycling apparel which the EMTs cut off
and threw away.

*the MTB crank and disc brakes aren't part of the stuff being replaced.
I'm just preparing my MTB for more service this winter :)

Blast:

How much you want to bet that your eventual bill will be > 3X what you guessed? When I fractured my neck, that's what it cost. And I didn't have as many areas injured as you do.

Crazy, isn't it?

I bought myself a pair of those Forte Titan wheels. Then I noticed how much weight I've gained since the weather turned cold and I started eating like a bear getting ready to hibernate. I need to drop about 20 lbs before I'll be happy riding 16 spokes....

So, they're hanging up in the garage, taunting me while I eat just one more cookie.....
