142281here she is... such a nice looking frame! I don't have headset tools, so I still need to cut the head tube and put in the star nut. Then I can actually build this frame up. Ill get a pic of my voodoo up when i can.

No kidding. Put an orange traffic cone in your garage the first couple of times you use it. :thumb:
Yup, well aware of that classic mistake. I also do not park my car in the garage at home or work. I will not jynx myself by engaging in the topic further, but so far I'm loving the rack.

New Speedplay Zero pedals and the fine shoes below. They're much nicer than what I actually need, but I must have tried on 25 different size/style/brand combinations in 6 different stores and these fit the best.

Both for 25% off or I wouldn't have bought them.
The plan was also to buy a new pump because mine doesn't work right, but I was too excited about the shoes and pedals that I forgot.

I spent $5.99 on a sweatshirt at goodwill. It will be my leave-behind after the start of the Hemet Double. I hate being cold, but don't want to tote a jacket all day.
So, once the day warms up, the sweatshirt get's left somewhere. No, not littered, but left never to be seen again.
No photo. But it's red. And a sweatshirt.

I had a hint, from the 50+ HTFU thread, this was coming.
I was at a Specialized store in Berkeley (Mikes's) to get a much smaller Specialized product (saddle) last week and drooled over the Roubaix and Tarmac frames while waiting for the salesman. I was amazed how light they are too. The frames design and finish are really fantastic. I like black frames but the Saxo Bank color scheme is awesome.
You got the box today so we get to see the fully mounted bike tomorrow morning. Right?

Bought some arm coolers off of ebay. Was skeptical but they work good. After spending all day in the San Jose sun on Saturday my arms are not shades darker like my face & legs. Not so great when your sitting still, but when your moving and especially if you wet them....oh man. Good stuff. Between that an the SwiftWick socks, I feel like I have some serious gear upgrades this week.

a couple of weeks ago....got NOS ultegre 9 speed STI brifters.
Replaced the duraace 9 spd barcons. The barcons worked great, but i don't like them better than down tube shifters and hit the right shifter with my knee on a regular basis at stops.
Finally got a ride i with the new shifters........very nice

What is this classic beauty, Alex? Looks like a titanium/carbon combo. I recognize the Neutron wheels (nice) but have no clue about the frame.
The frame is a 1993 Trek 2300. Carbon tubing glued to aluminum lugs. Custom de-anodized, polished, and de-labeled by the previous owner. The fork is a modern Ritchey carbon number also custom de-labeled. All the rest of the components (save the new seatpost and front derailleur) were swapped over from the Cinelli in the background.
seatpost is backwards. please fix it so you don't fall off the back.
The side marked "front" is facing the front. But don't worry, I'll fall off the back. It's what I do.

Alex, what a unique bike. How do you like the ride? Not that it matters if it's that pretty.
We'll see how the white work out. At least it doesn't have white bar tape and seat, which at least gives it a fighting chance.
BTW, as nice as your bike is, that saddle angle hurts my crotch just to look at.
Alex, what a unique bike. How do you like the ride? Not that it matters if it's that pretty.I took it out for a ride this morning, but the shifting was a bit too... Italian, so I turned back. Plus one of the bottle cages was falling off. Only got fifteen miles in.
Hopefully it's a little softer a ride than that brutal Cinelli in the background. :)

My sweet daughter has been in Italy in a study abroad program. She said she saw this a jersey through a window the back of a shop as she walked past and thought I'd love it. She was so very right. And it's even better because it came from her. Here's a photo of it.

That's great on both counts.
Don't you like the Cinelli? You like the glued tube roulette eh? First the Alan, now the Trek 2300.Don't get me wrong, the Cinelli is a wonderfully made, wonderfully handling bike. But it doesn't soak up the miles, it hires Chuck Norris to roundhouse kick the miles into you. When the road surface gets bad, riding it feels like getting beat up. Sure is fast and light, though, and for a modern bike, I don't hate the looks of it.
Plus it fits me okay, but not really. The top tube is a good length (frame is 56cm square, IIRC), but it's so short in height that I needed a super-long seatpost and a bunch of spacers to get it tall enough.
I was actually seriously searching for a steel frame (leaning toward a Surly Pacer in British Racing Green), but this one came up before I pulled the trigger on anything, and couldn't resist at least giving it a shot. And it matches the Vitus so well in construction. :)

Replaced my Look Keo pedals with Dura Ace 7810's. My feet weren't as sore after my ride on Sun morning, so I guess the wider base helped. I installed the cleats myself without a fitting and I had to stop once to make a slight adjustment on the left because my knee started to feel a bit "off."
The only bummer was that my Garmin Edge 500 ran out of battery power when I was a half-block from my house and it now looks like the .fit file is corrupted as it won't d/l to either GTC on my computer or online Garmin Connect. Was a bit surprised that it ran out of juice, though, because it was over 50% when I started and it was a really short ride of 75 minutes.
I guess it's like the fuel indicator on my car where it drops really slow until I reach 1/2-tank and then it goes down quick. LOL.
I started shopping for the new replacement bike. Thus far I've ordered wheels (from PSIMet), and a Campagnolo Chorus groupset. Hoping to be able to testride a few bikes tomorrow afternoon.
Also, last week I bought a replacement tire (a Conti GP4000s). And today my backup bike is getting a new chain.
Bought my first "poseur" jersey...yikes! Fabian Cancellara is my new man-crush, so I had to get kitted out in his Swiss champion Saxo Bank team jersey. Does that make me a cycling goober???

Joel, find yourself a late 90's De Rosa Professional or Neo Primato frame set and build it with your new 11 speed Campy group. You'll never want anything else.

That's an option, but I am planning to test ride a couple of fancy plastic bikes this week. A BMC Pro Machine and a Felt Fsomething or other.

I don't much care about what others are riding :p. I'm just planning to test ride some bikes and see what I like.
And after this incident, and finding out how easily a prized frame can be killed, I think I'd like something from a company that has a crash replacement policy, and buy from a shop that is customer focused.
Sorry, I might've missed some details somewhere in another post, but, your Colnago's steel right? Can't you have someone like Steve Rex replace the dead tubes, straighten things out, and send you on your way? Or even better, why not just have Steve build you a custom steelie, "like buttah?" ;)

My bike was due for a tune up and since my bar tape had started falling off, I figured I'd replace it as well. I decided to go with red this time around.
I'll take some getting used to, but it brightens up my bike.
Not 100% bike related, I've also recently purchased a LED-LCD TV... can't wait to catch the Tour de France in HD!
Although, the TV purchase means that I can't move forward with purchasing a nicer bike. Just as well, I should become a better rider before I get a better bike.

Oh :( wow sorry to hear about the loss...
Well there are a lot of great frame builders in the Bay and North Ca area to look at if you want something extra special to fill that deep empty black void which is in ya from loosing your Colnago... Steelman Cycles might be a worth a peak ;) http://www.steelmancycles.com/frames_details.html .
Thanks for the suggestion. But today I put in an order for a BMC Pro Machine. I test rode one and just loved the ride. It descended beautifully, was quite stiff in the BB, accelerated strongly, and climbed like a champ. Nice road feel, yet buzz dampening on rough road surface. Very impressed with it. To be honest, the general feel was rather steel frame like. Somewhat similar to my Colnago, odd huh?
I also test rode a Felt Z3. That absolutely jumped when you stomp on the pedal, but the frame felt dead, and it was kinda "soft" in the corners. I didn't have any confidence in really diving in to a turn.
Bike should be done and ready in 3 to 4 weeks. The wheels will take the longest. I'll post pictures when finished.
