got this today. this should help me put my bike under 16lb. I hope, at least close to 16.
Pretty good!
My CAAD8 currently sits at 17.2 lb (including bottle cages and pedals)

I ordered some Deda Newton anatomic 40cm bars.
I have the same bars, but in 42cm. They work perfect with Campy levers :D
PS - Mine are the "dark metal polish"

I bought a bike fitting at Shaw's Cycles in Santa Clara. He spent 2.5 hours with me fine tuning things and explaining his reasons and philosophies. Seat higher and pushed farther back. Stem flipped upwards, bars tilted downwards. Cleats changed to neutral position. I ordered some Deda Newton anatomic 40cm bars which will bring the levers closer than the current Ritchey WCS I have on the bike.
Perhaps someday I will have a Fuso frame.
New Old Stock? Dave Moulton isn't building frames any more. He posts here occasionally.

The past few weeks I've been thinking I really need to do this, especially with all of the big rides I have planned. I could really use some tweaks here and there since I got my ride off of craigslist. I'm sure it was money well spent. Curious. How much did this cost you? (minus the Deda's of course ;) )

The charge was $100 which is very reasonable. Terry had me ride around the large parking lot out back a few times to observe my position. Then he had me do a series of exercises and stressed to keep certain things in mind while doing them. I was huffing and puffing after them, he is not going to let you go through the motions. Once back in the shop he went to work on analyzing my seat height and setback using a small protractor gizmo of some sort. He had me look around at all the vintage posters of pros and said that's the position that we want. My overall bar height was too low so the stem got flipped and there was not a natural position with my wrists on the hoods so the bars were then angled down quite a bit. He also stressed there are so many cyclists now with incorrect form from saddle heights way high and stems too low causing the arms to be locked out the bulk of the time. For a mail order bike, he said I did a great job with sizing up the frame and the components. It sounds like many show up with a bike that is no where near the right size and there isn't much that can be done to correct that. Sean is right, Terry is total old school, very opinionated and vocal about many things. I love it though, and he has years of experience to back up his words. I'll siphon up that knowledge like a sponge. While discussing my gearing he still prefers triples but the compact is fine for my build and ability. He also said don't even concern yourself with a 50x11, you're not strong enough to use it. At the speed to push it I would be better off tucking and coasting or spinning like crazy in 50x12 which I'm already used to from riding the fixed gear.
I rode 26 miles yesterday and 30 today before work. The change in position is very noticeable. Riding in the drops is no longer painful and I can reach the brake levers without totally straining. With my wrists not tilted, climbing out of the saddle or starting up from a red light is much more comfortable.

Bostic, this is a great report. Both my wife and I are interested in getting fitted, but were worried we'd get some race oriented kid who would not be able to relate to us.

Bostic, got any before and after pics?
Any with you on the bike?
I'll take some of the bike when I go home for lunch. This pic is not great but it's what I have handy. Looks like I'll need to alter the fixed gear bike a lot as well.

There are a couple pics of me in the Jo/Lance ride report thread. I am hoping the new position will help some in my feeble attempts to keep up with the Sean Glen Alan crushing type paces.
There are a few NOS Fuso frames in his shop. I first saw one in 1987 while working at Round Table. A regular customer would come in with his Fuso and it was just the most ridiculously elegant frame.

My first roadbike! Picked it up on Wednesday at the LBS. A 2008 Cannondale Synapse 7. The frame is nice but I'll be upgrading components as time goes on. Pretty stoked, taking it out for my first ride tomorrow. :D

I think I'm doing retail therapy...Or eBay therapy.
Don't tell Tricia, but I ordered her Carbon Wing bars, just cause I love her.
I bought some Kestrel carbon non-wing bars, used on eBay.
Neither has arrived yet. But they should make my life 154% betr.

Thanks Bostic. I need to ask around to see if there's a "Terry" here in Sac. The new Specialized Concept store offers the services but the prices are  . Plus, call me paranoid but I think they'll try to talk me into a SL2 that "fits me better".

Hey Bostic,
May I ask what frame size that is? 53cm? And how tall are you. I thought you were about my height, 5'9"
your bike is showing a lot more seatpost than mine. I got a 55cm frame. I'm also using a setback seatpost, I still can't get my knees of over the crank. Although, my position now works pretty well(meaning no pain).
It is a 53cm. I am 5' 7". The Pedal Force website has the bike fit page where you measure your inseam, thigh, foot, torso, arm length, upper body and hand size and Mike from PF will reply back with his recommendations.
For me it was suggested
RS or ZX3: 53cm (top tube 53.5cm, seat angle 74deg)
QS2: 53cm (top tube 53.8cm, seat angle 74.5deg
Stem 10cm or shorter, Crank 170, Handlebar width 38-40cm.
I just used my REI dividend and discount to buy a new HRM: Suunto T3. This is my 4th HRM in 3 years. Hopefully, this will be "the one."

Planet Bike "Oh my God! That little thing is CRAZY BRIGHT!!!" rear blinkie and a beamer LED headlight (flashlight, let's be honest), along with two white reflective anklebands. I got em' today for the 200k tomorrow as a "just in case", but mainly for those after dinner rides during the early days of DST when it still gets dark somewhat early. Woo Hoo!

Although I finally got around mounting Conti Competition tire on my rear wheel. This time around I used Tufo Extreme tape. Seems to hold the tire as good as the glue. Will see how it holds up.

I'll probably just build it up to a fixie and sell it to some hipster.
It may be a hi-ten monster, but it's still as pretty as Bridgestones tended to be.
I looked at some Sidi Bullets today. I wasn't really into shopping, so I didn't buy them, but I'm thinking about it. Even though they'd be free (20% off plus REI dividend), it's hard to justify a $160 pair of shoes.

I'd build it up as a SS/FG and put those fender bosses to good use as a super-duper all-weather commuting and training machine.
Ordered some Profile design bullhorn bars and brake levers for my fixed gear bike. Didn't want to have to order online but yet again a local shop has totally forgotten about me after a few phone calls.

Well, I didn't have to buy it, but Trek is sending me a new rear wheel because mine cracked.
I also finally forked over the cash for an edge 305.
I picked up an R700 Crankset!! :-D!! The full size FSA 53/39 was just a little to hard on my knees, at least right now, especially on climbs like Sierra Rd. and Kings Mountain.
I've been scouring ebay and craigslist like a hawk for an Edge 305... and everytime I find one I have to convince myself that the 705 is just a waste of money.. even though its uber cool.
I'm ordering the Campy Comp triple 53/42/30 setup next week. I've had it with the big gaps in gearing of the 50/34 and constant noise of front chain ring shifting. Adding up the totals between Chorus double and Comp triple is 351 grams. I'll live with that to have that 42 and more efficient gearing. I test rode a 9 speed Campy Veloce triple yesterday and the shifting was plenty smooth.

Hmmm... I never have any issues with my 50/34 (Gaps or noise).
When are you having issues?
I have a triple (Ultegra) on my commuter and I dislike the Q-factor (pedals are far apart).
What I'm noticing now that I have good mileage and general knowledge of where my fitness is are some of the gaps in gearing when having a large range cassette with the compact 16t difference. I threw together this chart to see if it was making sense to me visually as compared to what my legs are doing.
