It's pretty fun.
Very shaky and weird at first, but we got the hang of it pretty quickly.
The seller got out his single and came out with us, since he lives on a very steep hill.
He said there was a nice stretch of flat road at the top. He said, we could push the bike up and start up there if we wanted.
I said, no I think we can make it.
Next thing I knew, I was pounding it up the hill, and we totally dropped the seller on his single bike. Not bad :)
I'll have a story with pics in a new thread when I get a chance.
Man, I'm jealous. I'm trying to figure out how to get one that will fit me and the wife. We have the (nice) problem of being the same relative size. Any Gigantic couples out there? It's always harder to find a tandem with a large captain/stoker setup.
If you fit on that Friday, have you looked at their tandem offerings?

I think I'm forever not going to have a tandem. Unless someone makes one size 60/48. :o
God! That would look weird.
I'd need something like a 48/60. That would look weirder!

:) that made me smile.
I'd need something like a 48/60. That would look weirder!A 48/really-long-seatpost wouldn't look much better, I'm afraid. :p
Someone needs to come up with a tandem with the stoker in the front, and the pilot out back. Like a rickshaw, but the rider contributes.
Just got this build started today. Should have it finished by the weekend. This bike is strictly for looking at. It will not be ridden.

Whoops! Forgot the smiley. :)
In general I don't trust bikes with wheels sizes greater than 20" ;)

Those rim decals have got to go. :) Other than that, it looks great. Very clean and smooth.
WHAT??? YOU DON'T LIKE MY WHEELS? THEY'RE NEUVATIONS. I GET THEM CHEAP. YOU CAN, TOO!!!
No, no, I make no judgement of the wheels themselves. I'm just saying the decals have to go, to match the rest of the bike. :)
BUT IF I TAKE THE DECALS OFF, HOW WILL PEOPLE KNOW WHAT SUPER-AWESOME WHEELS I HAVE? THEY ARE NEUVATIONS. I MUST SCREAM IT FROM THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN TOP!!!!
:D
ok. (trudges to get hair dryer). Here's to another hour of work to remove the decals...
That's the best part! The mystique factor will jump by many hundreds of percent! People will walk up to you and ask, "Wow, those wheels are awesome, what are they?" Then you can tell them! Over and over until they run away! Then you can chase them!

I bought a whole bunch of stuff for the tandem:
I plan on converting it to a 9-speed SRAM/Campy mix, like the DaVinci's have (but no ICS, just their rear derailleur/shifter/cassette setup).
- Conti Gatorskin 700x28 tires
- new tubes
- Kool Stop pads
- Cane Creek "dummy" Stoker hoods
- Fizik Bar tape
- Velox rim tape
- DaVinci brake boosters (skinny tire version)
- SRAM X-9 Rear derailleur modified by DaVinci for use with Campy 10spd levers (for planned conversion)
- 2007 Campy Veloce Ergo levers (silver) (for planned conversion)
Stuff to buy still (all that's left for the modern drivetrain conversion):
- SRAM 11-32 9spd rear cassette
- New built wheelset using White Industries hubs
- Downtube cable stops
I just bought Bianchi Pista (pics will follow) :)

Nope. What ride is that?
I know about Tuesday Nights at Hellyer velodrome and Tuesday Night Crits near Coyote Creek (but these are starting on May 6).
That's why Mavic's have the red spoke. Even if you remove the decals, others know you gots the goods.

My goodies came in for the Fuso build.
Deda 215 Ergo bend bars
Chorus shifters, chain and braze on front derailleur
Mavic brakes and alloy skewers
Ritchey WCS Alloy Post
Team Toupe grey/black saddle

DT 240 hubs, 1.1 rims wheel set

just won an auction for some bullhorn handlebars. $20 shipped brand new ftw!
Last night I picked up a couple Road IDs... Snagged both the dogtag/FIXX ID and a wrist ID. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry...
http://www.roadid.com/imagesV3/products_wristID_lg.jpg
They gave me a 1$ off coupon to share with people. The coupon can be used up to 20 times in the next 30 days.
Coupon Number: ThanksGary368571 (http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx?CID=ThanksGary368571) most of their products are marked under $20 so a buck off is pretty good.

it's not done yet. The brake lever is a temp solution until I can find one that actually fits. Will be replacing the stem when I figure out what size I'm sticking with.

jinws, what brake lever are you using? will a bmx lever work for road bike brakes?

I'm using a cross lever, I bought it but it didn't fit the bar near the stem. I'm getting a TT lever. ANy lever should work, just make sure it's the right diameter
