cool thanks!! the LBS *rolls eyes* wasn't sure if a BMX lever would work for road brakes. thanks!
too be fair, not all levers work with all brakes. I know road levers certainly don't work with some of the the other kinds of brakes. Better to be safe than sorry you know?

Mtn style levers have less cable pull then road levers, since the brakes they use have more mech. advantage (hence their levers have less).
Translation: with MTB style levers you'll have to pull the brakes much harder than normally.
Cross brake should be fine since they use road levers on the drops.
That's why tandems with road levers need travel agents to run V-brakes.
• NiteRider MiNewt Dual X2 (http://www.rei.com/product/760294) light + 20% REI discount = :love:Nice choice. I have the single light version of that guy, and it puts out an amazing amount of light for something so small. I can only imagine the Dual.
Also, crap, I need to use my coupon before it runs out!
Kucharik clothing, 100% wool jersey in a nice shade of blue. Also some logo'd water bottles for Slough's Bike Shoppe in San Jose. Red Fizik bar tape. It doesn't quite match red spoke color but I will give it a shot.

A custom wheelset, the parts for which are still being accumulated by the wheelbuilder. White Industries hubs, Velocity Fusion rims, and Sapim spokes. They will be stunning. I can't wait!!!!

Ah, pretty much like the build on my CAAD8 (White hubs, Sapim CXrays and Niobium rims)
I also just got a new wheelset, but for the tandem (arrived Monday).
- Da Vinci V-22 Tandem rims (very light, semi-aero, and specially designed for tandems)
- White Ind. Tandem hubs
- Sapim DB spokes, triple in rear.

I thought those were White hubs on them wheels o' your'n. They're pretty!
I had hoped to find some old-stock silver Chorus or Record hubs (this is for the Battaglin, so it had to be bright silver), but no dice. So it was either White Industries, or Centaur.
had originally set out yesterday to find a pair of Speedplay X pedals and had no luck. but i found these on drastic sale instead:
performance procyons w/ the rx insert. i much prefer their orion shades, but i hate wearing contact lenses. the procyons are a little more "sporty" than i'd normally wear, but they'll do for the rx insert option.

then, some full-finger PI gloves i'd been meaning to get for a while.

I got gloves like those in the half finger. Watch for the gel right below the fingers. It bunches up and gets funky.

Crappy old digicam with crappy old small LCD screen finally spewed its last color-distorted, over-exposed, out of focus pixel. So I got a new one.

Didn't come yet though.
Good size for jersey pocket, uses AA batteries, quick on for blog photos on the fly.

Bought this a couple of weeks ago at a garage sale:
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e157/sesamecrunch/Moulton1sm.jpg
It's a 1970 Moulton MK3. 16" wheels, full suspension. Very innovative bike for its day. I'm in the middle of restoring it. It now looks like this:
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e157/sesamecrunch/Moultonpaint2sm.jpg
I've got some wheels coming from another small-wheel fanatic in England, who replaced them in his rebuild project. So, it'll have international donor transplanted wheels.
It'll be a 3 speed, fully suspended cruiser. Should be fun to ride when it's all done!
This bike now looks like this:

The time has come for me to realize the dream is over. It hasn't been easy to come to terms with, but today I made the leap. I'm not at peace, but I think I am at last willing to accept reality.
Yep, you guessed it. I changed the stem on my road bike. I now have an old guy bar set up. I'll never be young and agile again.
I finely admitted to myself that my drops were almost never being used, and that I lived on the hoods. Sure, I could hit the drops for a short spurt, or when I knew that PhotoCrazy™ was shooting the century I was riding.
But really, I wasn't comfortable at all.
So I have a new stem. With "rise." Darn it. As Billy Crystal said "It's better to look marvelous than to feel marvelous." and I no longer get even close to marvelous.
Here's a photo of me as I think I am (and only semi-marvelous even here), shot during the Chico Wildflower this year.
http://cccorlew.home.comcast.net/hosting/drops.jpg
Someday soon I'll post a photo of myself in my new and (cough) improved upright geezer riding position and not so flashy stem.
Please tell people you knew me when, and that i wasn't always....

Curtis, you made a wise decision. I'm pretty certain you'll find that this modification improves your overall comfort on the bike, along with your handling and your speed. Afterall, if you feel good, you'll look good, too! And that alone will make you faster!

Don't limit yourself; you can have an upright geezer position AND have a flashy stem too.
So after my 5y.o. Tacx Tao bottle cage gave up the ghost on Mt. Hamilton yesterday, I found myself a suitable replacement today... another one!

That race should be done on mountain bikes or cross bikes. :p I used to live in the area, every other road out there is 100% better. Why the hell are they keep doing this race in the crappiest part of the county is beyond me.
I saw a couple of guys on cross bikes. There was one part where we went off the "pavement" and on to a dirt portion. The dirt was much smoother. I'm surprised I didn't lose any fillings.
Bought the Halo Headband per Ramon and Marco's suggestions. Worked great on the Hamilton climb.

Peculiar thing is that little tab that at the bottom that keeps the bottle from falling through broke on the ascent, not the descent. I wonder if the Bike Wash I use to clean the bike with could have deteriorated the plastic.

I miss having a 42 ring and 16t cog so I'm going to get another triple for the steel bike. Hopefully the source still has some Record or Chorus 2006 left.

Since the tandem stole the 07 Chorus shift/brake levers from my CAAD8. This left the CAAD8 feeling violated and taken advantage of.
So to make things right, I got these for the CAAD8 ;)

Tricia's birthday present came early. About a month early. But heck, she has a climbing and decending class with Velo Girls. Shouldn't she have new wheels for that? And what about Seattle to Portland (we'll be riding that during her actual birthday) Gotta be ready and dialed in for that.
New wheels: needed. So they are on her bike now.
Exiting teh house: Bontrager Select paired spoke wheels headed for ebay.
Although she's worried about rider weight limits-- she says that means she'll only be able to wear 73 pounds of clothing, she seems to be.... excited... about the improved stiffness and agility.
