Went on a bike ride on this paved trail by the shop where I bought my bike. About 2-3 miles into the ride my crank started coming loose so I decided I'd better turn around and head back.
I stopped for a minute to let some bikers catch up with me and asked them if they had any tools or anything on them. This lady said she did and went digging through her pouch on her bike and came out with a few alan wrenches. I immediately went for the largest size she had and it wasn't big enough and she apologized and said that if I wanted to just wait around for awhile there is a person that comes down the trail on a golf cart every now and then to give people rides who need it.
I decided that I'll just try to make it back to the shop instead of waiting since it'd probably be about another hour before somebody came by who could help me. About half way back to the shop the screw holding the crank on came out and the crank fell off which was a little embarrasing.
So I stopped and walked about 15ft to pickup my crank and pedal and put them in my pocket and searched around for the screw and couldn't find it. Pretty pissed off I had no choice but to walk the rest of the way. I tried sitting on the bike and using my legs to move me which didn't work too well. So then I tried pedaling with the right pedal which didn't work either so I pushed my bike back to the shop and the guy who works there recognized me and I showed him my problem and he fixed it within minutes and didn't charge me.
Since I got a nice rest at the shop while he was fixing it I decided that I'd go out and ride some more. So even though I've already broken something on my brand new bike today has been a good day. I feel really energized right now even though I've rode about 6 miles total and walked the other 2. I would have rode a lot further but I needed to get home and take a shower and all that because I'm going somewhere later. Also my knees hurt like a sonuva*****.
