"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Millar make a mistake?

So ... Bjarne Riis and CSC, probably the strongest current team, wanted David Millar badly, and just doubled their budget, but because he didn't want to wait a week for a solid offer, he resigned with Cofidis.

Did he just miss his one chance to be with a truly top flight time and DS? I don't think he'll ever be going anywhere with Cofidis, and with Hamilton aging he could have ridden one tour in support of him, and then probably been the team leader of the top team in the peloton after that.

Another boneheaded David Millar move? Not that that would really be surprising now, would it?

his resigning with Cofidis is more ego driven than common sense. He is number one in a crp team and prefers that over being number three or number in a top team.
Bone headed move?? I think so. But judging by his poor acting in stage, cough cough ggggggggg pitooeeeee, i doubt common sense prevailed.

Up until this tour, I thought highly of Millar. But then he b!tches out his mechanic for the chainring snafu in the prologue, complains that "he can't do it himself" in the TTT. After that, I doubt he was going to get much help, at least not from his mechanic or team mates. Then, he sounded like an obnoxious high school football team captain when they interviewed him after his win in the ITT. I was just waiting for him to tell us he'd drunk 12 beers the night before. Maybe he was screwing things up for the whole team so they'd throw him off, and he wouldn't have to buy his way out of a contract if he got an offer from USPS. What a pr!ck. What a wuss.

I don't think he could survive spring training with USPS. If he does, and rides the tour, I'll bet he'll be announcing his move to another team long before it's over.

Millar provides some very good entertainment I think. He's such an amazing time trialer and overall rider--but yes, his downfall is his emotion. He never seems to learn. At least that's what it looks like to us mere mortals.

It makes the non-whiners even more champion-like in my mind. I mean where's that British "stiff upper lip"??? (kidding, I know it's a stereotype)

Anyway, I still like a good trainwreck of a personality like him and Pirata to keep things lively.

I just don't see him sitting behind the Tyler's glory though. He knows he's the star at Cofidis. That's the bottom line.

Any truth in the rumour that Benylin Expectorant are setting up a team and Millar is first choice? :D

millar does have an...er...unusual accent. like he's trying to throw texas twang or something on top of his own. professional sports are full of highly talented underachievers. i suppose millar is cycling's own. what a prat (i love that word. i believe i shall adopt it as my own. thanks chewa).

i have a few more that would describe Millar more closely however it would require reducing female genitalia to around his level and the female genitalia is amoungst the most beautiful of the good lords creations so I shall refrain.

now Millar.
