i would like to build a single speed bike, with a rigid fork. it will be used probably only on the roads, I already have the frame, it is a soul cycles titan.
Frame: soul cycles titan
Fork: zion 29er rigid fork or voodoo rigid 29er fork
seatpost : sette ven
Tire : slicks i already own
Levers: Avid Speed Dial 7 Levers
Brake: BB7
Brake: BB7
Cable: Jagwire compressionless cables
Chain: sram 9 speed
Tensioner: nashbar single speed kit
Conversion Kit: nashbar ss conversion with tensioner
wheelset: P.2 wheelset with bolt on hubs

i know this looks a lot like and old post i had but it is different. The other one was just weighing my options this is hopefully the final product. After looking at the specks on the frame can you tell me which bottom bracket i can use prefereably under 30 bucks. It should be ISIS but can also be square taper, i have both.

what suggestions do you have

i know i need a bb with a 73mm diametet, but i don't know how long the axle must be. it is still a mountain bike frame but i will be riding it on the road

I disagree. Patience is a virtue (very useful info since you don't understand that) and it's something that apparently you lack, given the fact that a few minutes have gone by.

You're posting in a mountain bike forum about a bike that you're allegedly only going to use on the road.

You're also asking questions about a BB that you could answer for yourself, if you were willing to use the internet, rather than impatiently ("bump") waiting for someone to spoon feed you an answer.

Yeah, really, if a couple of days go by, you might bump it if you're desperate for an answer. But people don't hang around the forum all day just to answer your questions.

oh and +1 for ride in the dirt

A Taste test revealed it was just dirt. I'll change if it bothers you.

Doesn't bother me but it's the first thing I noticed. Btw, what rear tires do you use? I cut the sidewall of my Nobby Nic and am looking to try something else. You ride rocky and rooty, albeit at a grander scale to me, so I'm curious to know what you ride.

well the thing about the 29er fork is that the axle to crown length is within 5mm of the axle to crown length of a 130mm suspension fork, which the frame just happens to be spec'ed around

I just put on a Scott Stroke2 this evening. I ripped the wall out of my minion.Girlscout won it in a giveaway. It was free and laying around so I thought I would give it a try. You want a pic?

Just get a DMR trailblade fork.

mtnbk3000
08-21-07, 08:07 PM
okay. thanks but can you give a reason for such.. anything less exspensive than the dmr trail blade

Dannihilator

It will give you a better axle to crown height and is a little more durable than the Zion fork.

For a good rigid fork $130 is pretty dang reasonable.

it wont be used for freeriding, it will be light trail use, and road use. it doesn't need to be great what about the voodoo

Doc- Don't take drugs without your parents there.
Never take medicine without a grown up present. You could do more harm then good... If you can, wait for your parents. Or if it's serious, ask a neighbor for help.

Blowtorch- Don't call the fire department from a burning building
If there's a real fire in your house, your first job is to escape immediately. Fire spreads quickly. Call the fire department from outside the house.

Dial Tone- Don't paint your bike in the garage
All paints, and especially spray paints, have poisonous gases in 'em. If you breath too much you can get very sick... Always read the label carefully and check for warnings before you start any job.

Shipwreck- Don't run away from home
Isn't it better to try to solve problems instead of runnin' away from 'em?... And remember, running away (leads nowhere).
