So some of us have avatars that are just pictures of ourselves, but others have a hidden agenda, or meaning, or inside joke. So what's the story behind your avatar?
With mine, I was rolling into the parking lot at the end of the Tour de Max ride, and I saw LostinSanJose with a camera, and just had to pose for a goofy shot.

Gee, I was waiting for you to start this since you mentioned this in the other thread.....
Well let's see...
The "abstract painting" (what most people think it is) is actually Titanium Dioxide. When I got my new bike, I had my avatar a Moots insignia but then a few people accused me of trying to show off. I wasn't trying to brag but was rather tickled that I finally got my dream bike. Well ANYWAY I decided to take it off and find something bright and colorful. In googling, I found this and it was perfect!

Mine is taken during a flood about 4 years ago. The local MUP was under about 5-12" of water. Since my other passion is racing sailboats- it seemed the perfect opportunity to take the beater out and combine water and wheels.

I change mine from time to time so there is no special meaning other than I like the pic. This one is Webcor leading the peloton.

Mine is a drawing of the tattoo I have on my upper arm. It's supposed to mean Destiny in Chinese, for my daughter's name. But someone on the fourms told me it was reversed! Doh! Then again, others have told me it was correct. Who knows...!!!
Oh well... it's not like I can erase it from my shoulder.
Mine is a bike w training wheels 'cuz I always have something to learn. :p
Mine is a picture of Lucien Buysse, the 1926 Tour de France champion. Here's the full size picture:

I've been a Steelers fan since McDonalds came out with those SuperBowl magazines way back in the 70's.
I had them all.
How do you think I got to be OTB (off the back) and DFL (dead firetrucking last)? :D
Nothing special about mine. It's just me staring at you. Got a new lens at the time and took some test shots. Thought it looked neat..

Mine is the logo for Rock Racing (http://www.rockracing.com)...the cycling team sponsored by Rock & Republic (http://www.rockandrepublic.com/) clothing company. One of their riders were on the cover of Velo(something or other) and I liked their jerseys so I went looking...can't find their jersey but I got more info (http://www.rockracing.com/api/Index.cfm/cms.page/i/396/site/cycling/t/Cycling-Race-Team/) on them and their logo!

Belgian flag. I'm not Belgian - not Flemish and not Walloon - but it was the coolest looking avitar in BF's library when I looked. I have since figured out the whole photo-posting thing, but I haven't come across anything yet that I like better. Besides, some of the toughest, hardest and most successful bike racers over the last 100+ years have been the Belgian strong men. Merckx, de Vlaeminck, van Steenbergen, van Looy, Godefroot, de Bruyne, Schotte, the two Maes's -- pretty cool collection of stars, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Mine is from one of my favorite movies, Army of Darkness, because it's funny, and doesn't take itself too seriously, like when the hero is trying to escape from a cemetery full of rising dead, and these bony fingers are doing Three Stooges stuff to him - eye pokes and such. It contains classic lines like, "Good? Bad? I'm the one with the gun."
Mine is my dog Felix.

I did the original painting in my Tamalpais High school art class, and later gave it to my first girlfriend :( ...it's musta been love. Many years later I could still recall the image in my head since I had labored over it for many hours, and when I bought my last laptop...a Toshiba Tablet, I had to try and see if I could recreate it with the stylus and tablet function. It's not as smooth as the first one, but pretty decent for MS Paint. Just got Illustrator and Photoshop, and learning how to use those, and will make another attempt when time allows.
Guess I was thinking of the lone wolf, alone no longer and happy with his new love howling at the moon eh.

Mostly it's the owners.. Some pit owners want their dog to be intimidating.. 9 out of 10 that I see out here either got a heavy chain for a collar or even walk around with a muzzle..sad that's the image the owners want to project.. :(

I've been using that avatar for years on assorted forums and groups - I just like it... but I've been looking at it for so long I really identify with it, it's a symbol of me even though it doesn't look anything like me of course.
Anyway, as long as we're posting our dog photos, this is my greyhound Abbey:

It's totally the owners. I'm sure you see a lot of doggy negligence in Oakland. It's too bad - and it paints an unfair image on the entire breed.
