Living Car Free - Stats on per capita auto / bicycle usage?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm curious about where in the US automobile usage is highest and lowest, and more generally, what sorts of transportation is used in what areas. Does anyone know of a place to get these sorts of statistics? Most things I've found are either too general -- like about the US as a whole -- or about fatalities and crashes and the like.

I don't have the link handy...but it is under the US Census Bureau statistics.

Another likely place to look is the Bureau of Transportation Statistics:

I believe I found this through another forum member and would like to credit them, but I'm not certain who it was.

Here's a thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=310696) on this data we had a while back.

We had trouble using the links to make the website's program to work, so it might be best to do your own search on the census site.
