HOLY COW! That is an AMAZING read! Finished it in 24 hours! Everyday Lance becomes a more amazing person! If you haven;t read it, go today and get a copy!

Speaking of, who's ridden in the Ride for the Roses? I'm gonna do it in 2004 and my wife is debating it. I'm in for long cycling distances, she's not. Is the 25 miles ride pretty easy? If she doesn't ride, I'll do the century, but if she does, we'll go together at her pace on the 25 (I guess)...

It's a very cool book, eh? FYI, Lance has another book due out sometime in October called "Every Second Counts". I have it on order @ Barnsand Noble.com.

For some reason when he fell and then raged up the LuizArdiden mountain finish, I thought of his battle in this book when I seen his pedalling and the concentration and sweat on his face...

Yeah, I rode the Ride for the Roses last year and did the 70-ish mile route. This year my wife and I are doing the century. It is a good ride, although I remember not enjoying the last 5-10 miles as much as the rest of the ride. There were about 10,000 riders so it was quite a show out there. I'd recommend it to anybody, especially if you want the big spectacle of Hotter 'N Hell without all the heat. I don't remember it being too hilly, it was just basically a pleasant ride supporting a good organization in a city that I like very much to be in. Hope you get to go Carl.

I especially liked "I don't check my mom at the door".

Very inspirational read...I loved seeing how Nike and Oakley really stuck by him when he was battling cancer. Totally amazing!

I'll be riding the 100-mile route at this year's Ride for the Roses...I can't wait!!!

great book.
Always read it again when I get a bit down hearted or unhappy. It makes you realise that the only lot in life is the one you make.
Amazing person, I have A LOT of respect for him. Hopefully someday I'll get to meet him so I can tell him that face to face.

Great book, very uplifting it helped me get through a rough time just last week, my problems seemed from trivial compared to what he's been through. I was very inspired by it.

Yep, I agree, one of the best books I've ever read. Very inspiring. It's been a while since I read it, need to read it again. Can't wait to read his new book!! Anyone know when it's supposed to be released???

I've ridden the Ride for the Roses for the past 2 years and
will be there this year.
The route is not too difficult and the October date should
help with the excessive heat we can sometimes get in
Austin.
Plan to spend the weekend in Austin, always lots of
stuff to do/see.

FYI "Every Second Counts" is on sale at overstock.com for about $13. Don't know if that's cheaper than Amazon, etc, but I expect so. They also charge $1.40 for media mail shiping...
