Husband want to know if a bike is rated for 230# rider and
he weights 250# will the bike be safe or will it brake?

Which bike is it? Almost certainly safe, so long as he doesn't do hard jumps off of curbs or load up the bike with 100 pounds of luggage.

I routinely overload my front carrier, which is rated for 22 pounds, but often has 35. Worse, I use aluminum screws as a pivot, which are considerrably weaker than the stock stainless steel screws. Still, no problems.

Plus, if he rides all the time, he'll come within the required range! (Kind of like buying a size too small in the hopes you will one day fit.)

Plenty of bikes out there are rated for more than 250 pounds, if looking for alternates.

WE are looking for a pair of cheaper bike. Maybe yeah by dahon. We know they are heavier than a lot of folding bike out there. We are going to put them in the bay of our RV. We have regular 26" 21 speed bikes at our home base.

I haven't looked at the Downtube weight limits, but that might be the bike for you. The Dahon Speed D7 would be good, too, and leave you with a touch more room in your RV. Also, neither of those bikes are particularly heavy, and both are relatively inexpensive.
