helmet head, any input?
what if a peloton of stockbrokers is advancing on an engine hauling two grain cars on a siding?
This seriously needs a "Cowboy Neal" option.

You know, the bell they ring on the NYSE sounds a lot like the bell at a railroad crossing.
There has to be some meaning there.
I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks trains are less obvious.

Thought I was the only one around here who trolls slashdot.
Trains are the transportation baby that was thrown out with the bathwater.
One of the most frequent sources of delay for the remaining rail infrastructure around here is cars running into them at level crossings.
Seriously. Maybe I voted wrong.

T123 and I also agree.
If trains were so obvious as to both their presence and speed, then gates and flashing lights would not be needed at crossings.

In Philly, train-like vehicles run on tracks in the roads. They are obvious as can be.
They also have foghorn things that are meant to summon the owners drivers of double-parked cars that block the tracks. Obvious, indeed.

but I swear, mister, I never saw that train."

Great thread! From now on, whenever I'm riding and I see a train or a bus, I'll probably get a chuckle.
I have a different question. Which is more dangerous to a cyclist?
1) A train
2) A pedestrian
