Did I spell that right?
Commuting to work, a one-legged cyclist zips by me. And when I say zips, it was like I was standing still!! Zzoooommm....>>>
Wow!!
Quick thought...he probably doesn't stand up out of the saddle on steeper pitches, does he?

Wonder if it was the guy who did breathless agony. There's a pic around somewhere I think.

The guy's name is Jerry, he lives in Santa Clarita. He is the one responsible for getting me into riding. He had polio at the age of 2, has ridden bikes since he was little, while he was a teenager, he started working in his dad's bicycle shop. He is a purist, he rides tubulars, Campy equiped bikes, he has several including a fixie.
When riding with a guy that is doing all his cycling with one leg, you have no excuse for not finishing, when you have two good legs.

The frame looks similar, but I think my guy was taller. Not sure, though. Happened too fast! Woooshh-->

+1 for awesome-ess-ness.
Find the video on youtube of the one-legged bicycle messenger in NYC. I think the video is called "Fast and Reliable", dude's name is Dexter (i forget his last name).

I feel that way a lot when running. I'm dying, trying to convince myself not to stop and lie down when someone with no legs flies past me on prosthetics. Here I am whining to myself that I'm tired and I have two legs!
I feel much shame. :o

What do you call a bike racer that only shaves one leg? Scott!! He is a local racer who has trained with the olympic team. See him at the Rose bowl and on La Tuna canyon every once in a while when he is in town. Very strong rider.

I too have been passed up, zoomed by, by a one legged rider. A humbling experience. For me it was on Live Oak (Arcadia area) back in the 90s, it was a different person than in the picture above.
