Bicycle Mechanics - HELP w/ folding bike parts/Italian

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have an old Italian folding bike I want to build up. it has no brakes (but has the front and rear holders welded over the wheels for them).
The brake levers are welded on the bars...but all the cables (internal), have been pulled out.
I have put on a new seat, found a seatpost, put some cheap commuter petals and will buy a new chain (single speed).
Can anyone assist me as to where to begin on this project and where center or side pull brakes can be purchased for such and old model bike?
thanks

I would check www.sheldonbrown.com/harris for information. This is an extensive site that has lots of information about all types of bikes. If it doesn't have the info you are looking for, it probably has a link to some info. Otherwise, eMail Sheldon and he can probably help you.

Good luck.
