Hey all,

I am in the midst of a cross build for the coming season. I have just about everything.
Or should I say I had. I was using a moderately bent C'Dale MTB frame which I had straightened out. Sadly after much trying here and there I have decided to scrap the idea, the rear triangle was a B$^%& to pull out and is still only at about 120 mm spacing, as well upon receiving my shiny new Bontrager Race GXP Cross Cranks I found I don't have the clearance to run them. Oh great:rolleyes:.
Anyways so now I have everything I want for my build save the frame. So far I've sunk about $700 dollars into the bike a would like to have to sink a minimal amount less into this build. What ideas do you all have for a good cross frame for relatively cheap (Read Less Than $300). I found a Fetish Cycles Ankh on Ebay that is my size, looks identical in every aspect to their new Position frame. http://www.fetishcycles.com/road/position/indexk.html
Anyone have opinions on Fetish frame or other readily available starter cross frames? I'm not looking to go Salsa or anything just yet as I'm just starting out. The frame has to be disc ready but does not need to have a fork. Maybe later I'll post what I've gotten together so far for the build.

Later!

Kris

Nice find il professore but sadly I'm a 60-62 cm frame size (62 cm road frame). I'm cursed with height :(

I think I overreacted slightly, I can just get away with a two ring MTB crank. Duh. So frame still useable, thread is now lockable mods.

Did I read this correctly; you straightened out a bent aluminum frame? That is a recipe for disaster! Seriously consider another frame before yours fails and you get injured.

Hey Kris, Kris here. ;) Check out Dutch, they have a Rocky CXR frame hanging around from last season, it's a 60 I believe. They parted it out and I don't think they want very much for it, I would't be surprised if $300 nabs it for you. I don't remeber if it has disc tabs or not, I know the CX frame from Rocky does, and I believe it is exactly the same frame other than the paint.

Side note, I just converted my JtS back from a road bike into a cross bike and did my first 'cross training ride of the year this morning. I forgot how fun it is blasting through any sort of terrain on a crosser! :D
