heya, Ive been searching around looking to buy clipless shoes for road biking... this is all new to me so Ive been trying on lots of different kinds. So far I found that I feel the best in Carnac shoes ....?.... but Im still looking around before i make any final decsions. Ive noticed that every brand i try on, Im a new size...39, 37, 38.5...Im trying to try on as many shoes and brands as possible so that I know how theyll feel first, before I search for them and a cheaper deal online. I was wondering what some of the ladies out there feel about certain shoes? what they found to feel great, terrible and why? which brands they feel are worth and not worth the $$$? And if anyone can tell me about Diasadora shoes (cant find a store with them) that would be great too. thanks so much!

my wife is quite happy in Sidi's.
seems that the narrow shoe works for her.

thats about all I can say about em.

Diadora are ok shoes, were very big in the nail on cleat
era.

I wear a pair of black/yellow Shimano road shoes with my speedplay road pedals. At the LBS, I tried on Specialized and Lake (I think -- it's been a year) and the Shimanos seemed to fit my size 8 US feet the best. Sorry... I don't remember which model. I don't remember the exact price, but they were probably somewhere around $70? I purchased them at the LBS. It's just my preference, but I prefer to buy shoes in an actual store. :-)

Each brand of shoe is going to fit differently. Good luck with your search!

Diadora shoes are distributed by Gita Sporting Goods. Here's their web page you might fine a dealer listing.

Hi,
you have no idea how badly you want these shoes to fit right. Seriously. Unfortunately, the good ones are worth the money. Not to say that there aren't good moderately priced shoes; but you need to be careful. The shoe must fit perfectly. It must be stiff enough to work well. Go to a few different bike shops, try a bunch of shoes. Eventually you'll find a good pair.

I use Sidi on my road bike and Lake on my mountain bike. Both are women specific and fit perfectly. I gave up trying to fit into cheaper men's shoes, my feet thank me.

I've been happy with my Sidi's. They fit my narrow feet nicely. Liz

I also have Sidi's. They fit my incredibly narrow feet quite well and are definitely worth the price.

My wife tried several pairs of shoes in the shop. She thought the Sidi's were significantly better than the other shoes she tried and were worth the extra $$$

I went to about five different bike shops in around my area and tried on so many different road bike shoes... a variety of brands, styles and sizes. No two brands were the same as far as sizing... so I guess my size is somewhere between 37.5-40.5 !!! anyway, I still havent found the ONE that fits just right, and is less than my rent. OK, but heres the biggest drawback that I keep running up against, maybe someone knows of some special cycling insert thingy specifically for this (i dont know, Im new at this :) .... when I finally get the length of the shoe just right, theres usually alot of extra space around (on top) my toes. the rest fits well, the narrower shoes fit better on me... but on lots of them too...theres a dancefloor at the front of my feet! any tips to possibly fix this? thanks for the responces, they were very helpful.
cheers!

There is a dancefloor? Do you mean the smooth part in the front of the shoe? If that is what you mean don't worry about it, that is where the cleat goes. I have some Lake and Sidi Shoes the Lakes have some protrusions in the front which is useless when you have cleats on and the sidi's have none. You really can't walk around well in cycling shoes, with or without cleats :)

Sidi's are my favorite so far, I have set of Sidi Genius and just got a pair of Sidi Dynamic at Sierratradingpost for $40 I could not turn down that deal.

Be very careful about buying something like shoes on-line. They are not all built exactly the same even if it is the same brand and model. There are always slight differences. I would suggest getting your shoes at the LBS where you can try them on and see how they fit.
