I'm new here and haven't had much luck with the search yet. I know that this has been covered in the past.

I'm rebuilding an older frame, I measured the rear drop outs and they are 130 mm across.

Would a 8 or 9 speed cog work.

A standard road rear hub that can accept an 8, 9, or 10 speed cassette will have a spacing of 130mm.

What are you building Jack? I'm a sucker for older bikes. Good luck whatever it is.

I have an early 80's Raleigh 531 double butted frame. I've had it since the 80's and originally built with components I had around from I bike I purchased in the 70's. This time I've been buying upgraded products all on sale. I haven't ridden on the road in years I mostly Mtn bike now but thought I would like to start again and wanted to keep it on the cheap to see if I was still interested in doing it. I think I have about 300. in it and have replaced everything but the brakes. I had supbe's on it.

I have been having a lot of fun doing it again. I have made some mistakes on purchases but should be done next week. Waiting on the rear sprockets now, I order a spin on the a cartage.
