This is actually a pretty good thing to get at a bike shop, because you can try the shoes on, get an idea of how they work with the pedals and avoid the whole weeks-of-shipping issue. In a big shop (REI?), you won't pay much more than online. Size 12 shouldn't be a problem (I wear 15; THAT'S a problem). If you're determined to order off the Net, try www.performancebike.com or www.nashbar.com. But no fair trying them on in the shop, then ordering online. If you do that, honor requires that you buy at least a tube or something.
Pedals are on sale all over these days (fall clearance), so you should be able to do it easily for the money you mention.

you do need to get the shoes at an LBS I ordered online and found the sizing is not the same from brand to brand. I ended up going to the LBS and got a good deal on a combo sale that was better than online. The shop can make sure they have correct fitment which is very important.
