15 miles of climbing can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 7 hours. I would say leave 90 minutes to give yourself plenty of cool down, it also depends on how strong of a climber you are. It is a 750 foot climbing, and takes me about 50 minutes but I am a solid climber at those grades and that distance. Much beyond that and I start to die =)

takes me about an hour to get from downtown san francisco to my house which is 8 miles away.. but 45 minutes going downtown from the house at a moderate pace. so it can vary. i'd say if you're not going to smash the whole way there leave yourself 1.5-2 hours
ps and make sure to hydrate a lot and snack at the 1 hr point
pps i'm fat and i'm slow

it takes me 1 hour to go 8 miles with a 1400 elevation gain, including a break. but it's all climbing that starts with a light grade and gets steeper and steeper with no coasting.

If it's hilly as in go up, go down, go up, go down, you could easily average 20 mph and get there in 45 minutes. I usually find myself riding 16 or 17 mph though since I wear out easily.

took me an hour to ride 17 miles and I was avging 15-17mph. I'd say give 2hrs just for the fact that you've never done it before so you won't know how your muscles will take the climbs and you don't want that rushed/panic feeling to occur when your soaking hot since that's annoying in itself
