I just got back into the sport so I've been riding about 3 times a week around 6 miles each time...Hopefully after all the soreness disappears I can ride for much longer...

Anyway...How many days per week do you ride & how many miles ?? Thanks...

18 miles a week on a MB is not alot, unless those 6 miles are a active uphill volcano crater with spewing molten lava.
Try doing 15 miles on singletrack.

I ride a road bike 20 miles everyday. Approx. 150 miles/week

Everyone has to start somewhere and your 6 miles, 3 x a week is a start. Yes, your body will adapt to the changes you are giving it and you will be able to ride more and more. I think you are doing it best by not putting too much load on your body all at once. You are building your base miles and this is important before putting too much load on yourself. Try increasing your mileage about 10% each week and be sure to get proper nutrition for recovery as this will help with the soreness. Also, make sure to stretch after each ride as this too will help with soreness. Keep it up and you will be riding as many miles as you want. Just remember that it takes time.

Perhaps you might want to get the book "The Cyclists Bible" by Joel Friel. You will learn alot from this book. Oh yeah, I too ride three days a week but they are 40 mile days with intervals, sprints, hill climbs and recovery.

I ride my bike to work everyday. I'm a wuss though. If it's raining, I take the SUV. However, raining or not, I try to find time to go out trail riding for at least an hour every second day or so. I'm on 2 weeks holidays right now, so I've been going trailing between 2-3 hours everyday

8 days a week, 30 miles each ride, all hilly singletrack with 10,000ft elevation climbs/descents, usually under an hour. PR is 15 minutes. But that was a one time deal... I drank a lot of gatorade that day.

You ride 30 miles of hilly singletrack in under an hour??...WOW...thats at least 30 mph...Dude..you are my new hero! Even with the gatorade.

A PR of 30 miles in 15 minutes???? Am I reading this right?? Even with the 30 miles under an hour you would be blowing by the pros like they were standing still . . .

In comparison to how he rides, it's like they're standing still. (He even rides so awesomely that god put an extra day in the week, just so he could watch.)

I commute with my mtb on slicks 5 days a week if at all possible, if I don't have to transport the kids. 25 miles each way. Then on weekends I will start making an effort to trail ride at least one day but probably 3-5 hours. I just got back from a 100 miler so, I am just now getting back into the swing of daily life. This should keep me in good shape for any other long race that comes along where I will need to ramp up just a bit.

I am right below you (WV) and we have been getting nailed too. I did some trail ridding the other day and spent some time on the ground. I guess I have been out of the game to long for muddy single track. I am also just getting back into ridding though and am probubly riding 6 miles a day 3 times a week also. I would like to start loggin more miles but I hate to give up weight lifting and thats what I do in the only free time I have :(

I ride 2 times a week after work, 17 miles of single track and fireroads (2hours) been doing this since spring... occasionally I throw in a ride on the weekend or sometimes I just ride once a week it just depends on how I feel.

7 days a week on the roads, unfortunately I consider myself lucky if I can ride once a month out on the trails. Guess it's about time to simultaneously try to afford a car and start working less :D

I'm only riding about 5 days a week now. I used to ride every morning of the year, but have learned the beauty of sleeping in a couple days a week.

atleast 5 days a week, but usually everyday. i do up to 30km normally, but i dont go in the rain, cuz my mom would get mad (im 14). on rainy days, as soon as theres a sunny brake, ill go just to cruise around, but then its right back home before it rains again

About 4 times a week. About 4-6 miles per ride. Keep in mind that Im just getting back on the bike and its consistently over 100 degrees everyday where I am. I would probably die if I didn't own a Camelback.

3 to 5 days a week all year round with a good mix of on/off road and cross. These days I consider 100+ miles makes for a good week.
