I'am having my hitch installed Saturday and will be looking to upgrade my current trunk mounted rack which I don't full trust to either a hitch mounted rack or a small trailer of some type. My wife and I are really starting to ride quite a bit and I want something that provides some ability to protect the bikes from the elements while being transported if caught in the rain. Does someone make a large, heavy cover that is made to go over the bikes while in a carrier or is a trailer the only way to get that protection? The thought of driving in the pouring rain and having our bikes drenched does not appeal to me. Also, I see a Tandem in our future, by next year probably, are they rack-able with a good hitch rack? A hitch rack is my preferred choice but I MUST be able to cover the bikes in some manner. Suggestions?
Also, are there any links for Trailer info? I have a lot of Rack information but not much on trailer options. Whats the best way to go? Thanks!
