The local YMCA had its first Tri this morning, this was my first as well. Everything went real smooth they did a great job. I didn't to too bad either. My goal was just to finish which I did! The Tra was a sprint,500m swim 12.5 ride 3.5 run. Some how I was put in the second wave to start I was thinking I was going to be the last out of the pool but was second one out. Bike was good but the run kicked my butt. I finshed up with a total time of 1:34 not bad for a fat out of shape couch potato! Over all I had a great time and will do it again!:)

Can you tell me the name of the YMCA that did it? I work part time at a YMCA, and would like to get them to organize a spring for our area also. The problem is finding the people to make it happen to support it.

Good job on the sprint. That is my goal for next year.

Nice!

I'm thinking about doing my first duathlon next month. My weakness is swimming but I'm sure I could handle 500m. Maybe I'll follow your example and try a triathlon next year.

That's great inspiration for a lot of us out here/there training for our first sprint tri.
That sounds like a pretty good time too.

Keep up the good work.

First off thanks to everyone for the kind words. The YMCA in Marion Ohio is who put it on. If you want to contact the race director her e-mail is hwright@marionfamilyymca.org This was her first race and she did an outstanding job. They had over fifty people in it and it went very smooth. We biked and ran on roads that were still open to traffic but the local police were at the two main intersections and a race volunteer at the rest, these were out in the country with very little traffic. I did hear that someone got hit by a car on his bike but was not hurt and I came inches from getting hit by a young kid on a motorcycle. It was at one of the main intersection and the cop was letting some cars go through as I was getting close to the intersection. He motioned for the motorcycle to stop and for me to keep running. The kid did stop and for some reason took off again heading right for me. He stopped less than six inches from me as the cop was all but yanking him off his motorcycle. As I ran on the kid was getting a@$ reamed pretty good. All in all I had a great time and am looking forward to do it again.
