Wood Cateye :p From my broken cateye HL El 500. I HATE PLASTIC:mad: Sorta retro looking but thats OK. Works better as a flashlight now much more ergonomic. Wouldnt do this on higher powered lights that generate too much heat (This is a luxeon I ) Coming soon wood dual Cree xre with air cooled heatsinks:eek: Retro in the metro:D

Thanks Bushman.
Its poplar with 3 coats marine spar. Drainage holes for leakage but turned out very water resistant anyway. Top fits super tight silicone at front for seal. Its 500% better than that plastic POS:rolleyes:
Well, you've upgraded the bodywork, how about sticking a new engine in that baby?

Wood eye? Wood eye? Hair lip! Hair lip!
Foghorn Leghorn, "That's a joke... I say, that's a joke, son."
Joke punchlines aside, that's a beautiful light. All you need is a wood bike to go with it.
Hmmm. Don't get the punchline? Oh well:
Joe & His Wooden Eye
Two farmhands went to a country dance. One of the hands, Joe, had a
wooden eye and was very self-conscious about it. Joe told the other guy,
Bill, that he was worried about someone saying something about his
wooden eye. Bill told him not to worry because it was a good eye and
most people couldn't tell it from a real eye.
Bill danced nearly every dance as there were a lot of farm girls
there. Joe just didn't dance at all. Finally, Bill went over to Joe and
asked if he had danced with any of the girls.
Joe told him that he had not because he was concerned about them
saying something about his wooden eye. Bill told him again not to be
concerned about it.
Bill pointed to a girl sitting across the room and told Joe, "See
that good-looking girl over there? She's got a hair-lip and hasn't
danced but once or twice. I danced with her once and she's an excellent
dancer and real polite. Go over there and ask her to dance. She won't
say anything about your wooden eye."
So Joe went over to the hair-lipped girl and asked, "Do you want to
dance?" To which she replied in a high pitched hair-lipped voice, "Would
I, Would I?"
To which Joe replied, "Hair-lip, Hair-lip!!!!"

No No No Frankenbiker the girl had a hook for an arm so the punch line is "Would
I, Would I?" And he says "hook arm hook arm" (as to lead her to dance floor);) HeHe znomit the cateye opticube beam isnt that great and heat IS an issue. I have a dual Cree p4 running at only 500 mah and it will get hot if static (turned on in a pannier) next wood version will be on copper computer heatsink :)

Wood eye? Wood eye? Hair lip! Hair lip!
I thought that the girl was a bit overweight and that the reply was "Fat ass! Fat ass!"
Old jokes that make you groan aside, that's very creative, sherpa93. Neat stuff and must have been fun thinking it through and creating it.
But I'm not sure that "sorta retro" adequately defines what you're come up with. I'd give it more of an "Amish Xtreme" description (I think I saw something about that on ESPN). ;)
Clever idea. Thanks for sharing, I might fashion something like that on a Fenix P2.
