So i'v been getting my buddy into riding with me (just in the city and stuff) and he was using his brother's Walmart Schwinn which was doing fine but the part of the crank arm that the pedal connects to got stripped out. So he went on to use his brother's girlfriend's Schwinn (same bike only womens) and the same thing just happened tonight.

So I'm looking for a cheap solution on what to do here, he's a good 220 pounds. So i need somethin that will be strong enough for him.

Whats the cheapest solution to get him up and riding again? The rest of the bike is completely fine, its just the damn crank.

I was thinking of just welding the damn thing right in, but i think the arm is made out of aluminum.

Is the stripping being caused by the pedal not being tight enough on the crank? I can't really imagine how his weight could have stripped it out of the crankarm. You literally have to be superman to do this to a properly tightened pedal.

The crank was improperly installed. He can replace it with any crankset. There is no such thing as a crank that will break under even the most extreme wattage or weight by the strongest/heaviest rider.

Agree, it's not just weight - both bikes were probably in need of maintenance, and what happened was a symptom of that. If he mounts the bike by putting one foot on a pedal, jumping on to it and then finally swinging his leg over (and to a lesser degree if he dismounts similarly) it will exacerbate the problem.
