A somewhat zany character is Roger, but it was quite instructive. I suppose a few people could feel badly let down if they had to file up their forks, or worse still couldn't make the motor fit after they'd bought it.

One thing though, it's said to be prefferable to file the motor's axle rather then the bike's fork, especially for alloy forks or front*mounted motors. Otherwise sharp edges can start cracks or somesuch. It's also quite important to file the axle flat rather then round-ish, otherwise the torque on the fork ends will be a lot greater should the axle spin, see the last pic in this thread:
