its either my chain or my cassette. i switched lubes to pedros ice wax and have been following the directions for lubing but im getting squeeks. happens after about an hour of riding. chain is new and the bike is kept very clean. could it be the cassette? something in the rear wheel?

suggestions?

I had an SRAM chain that would squeak like crazy and no matter what lube I used after about 15 miles the squeak was back every time. It was only a couple links, and it was a tandem timing chain. The chain itself wasn't manufactured particularly well, there were tooling marks all over the rollers and end plates. Nasty...

I tossed the sram and put a shimano chain in place and it's been quiet ever since.

The moral from my story, is that it's not always the lube...

My squeek-squeek-squeek sounded when the right pedal was at the bottom and the cause turned out to be in the left pedal (at the top!).

My squeek-squeek-squeek was caused by my right shoe. I tightened the cleat and it went away.

I usually associate squeaks with shoes/pedals, as the above posters noted. Have you lubed and tightened bolts?
