Cool photo and not a bad idea for certain situations. Here's a modern E version:

Has anyone tried it?
If so, what is the finding?

Quite a few powered trailers now being offered. I am not sure how long the knife sharpener lived pulling that contraption.....not very long if it ran him over... imagine the brakes on a wet road downhill the original over-run brakes (he gets run over) In fact I tried enlarging the picture and cant make out any brake device on the bike... fixed wheel maybe
Here is another nice idea to e.power in more comfort http://www.snakesun.com/WHITE%20RICKSHAW.JPG
