Alt Bike Culture - First attempt to start an "alt bike" (X-post from C&V)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Found this frame in a pretty sorry state. Restore it would cost alot. So I'm going a different route. 1958 Schwinn Spitfire Mixte.

Nah, Im gonna leave it the way it is. I need to figure out something for a brake though. The 20 inch wheel has a freewheel on it, and i dont feel like going coaster...

Does the fork have a brake mount?

No, its just the original old Schwinn Blade fork. Im thinking of possibly brazing on a set of brake mounts on the chainstays in the rear.

I guess you don't know how fortunate you are...
It is almost impossible to find a coaster brake here in portugal...
"original old schwinn blade fork"????.... ???? I would kill for one of those...
One piece crank set??? Here we only have those on bmx's..
I don't expect you to understand, but those kind of things are a part of my dreams...
Good luck with the project.
