Dahomey Biker

Hi, I'm Tom. I am a casual rider in Tallahassee, FL. I am a newbie, so please be patient. My background is in the performing arts; however, I am a employed as a public servant and sales clerk. Regarding bikes, I used to put up to 30 miles per day. Unfortunately, my two jobs are just 2 miles from home and next to each other. I made the mistake of driving again, and now I am picking up the weight. But I refuse to become a desk jockey; I'm riding again.

Regarding bikes, I learned the hard way of how dangerous the cheapest bikes can be. After breaking a discount store bike (and breaking my arm at the same time, 3 years ago), I am keeping an eye open for a good bike. I'll be making rounds soon at local bike shops. I am currently riding a Schwinn Ranger and a Huffy Ironman (not the best; but better than the NeXt and two Roadmasters I have owned).

Welcome, Tom. Are you of Dahomey ancestry? They sure were a bad-assed crew... Sorry to hear about your injury. If you come across any Jamis bikes in your search and you do have a budget to stay within, they're well-made bikes at a moderate price. Good luck in finding the perfect bike. :)

Hello Tom, you could check out the local Craigslist as well...ouch! on the broken arm, but at least we don't need to explain to you about the problems with buying a cheap bike.

Welcome to BF!
