hey all,

I'm attempting to find a 120mm cross fork in order to run a Surly 120mm rear fix/fix hub up front. Why, you ask? Well, I want to have a few more options for the long distance rides.

I found this (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=600086&subcategory=60001182&brand=&sku=13283&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Road%20Forks) Nashbar cross fork a while back. Anybody know its spacing? No info on the site....

Other options? Thanks!

forks are spaced at 100mm as are all front hubs that I know of. You could cold set a cromoly fork to 120mm.

You could get one custom made...

...or you can run gears

I wonder what fork spacing a surly pugsly uses

135mm, with the hub having a 17.5mm offset to match the rear hub-

Wouldn't it be easier to just:

A) Have a Surly Dingle (fixed) or White Double Freewheel
B) Carry a chainwhip & spanner or the appropriate freewheel removal tool?

forks are spaced at 100mm as are all front hubs that I know of. You could cold set a cromoly fork to 120mm.

On top of the spacing issue you would also need a front drop-out that accepts a 10mm axle.

i dont know if i would do that. if the fork breaks, you lose control big time.

But the fork won't break, if it's ferrous. You can also re-rake forks to alter the handling.

I vote cold set the fork. its only 5mm on each side.

All this talk of respacing the fork is a moot point. A rear 10mm axle will not fit a front 8mm dropout.
