Southern California - Group Rides in San Diego/North County that welcome bents

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I think I'm finally at the point where I could keep up with a group. I average between 16 and 19 mph over 35 miles. I can keep an 11 to 17 mph pace up hills, and 22 to 28 mph pace on flats. I think it would be fun to ride with a group, but I'm aware that many groups don't welcome 'bents. I have no desire to "show anyone up" or proselytize for 'bents; I'd just like to have a good time with fellow cyclists. I'm also aware of all the drafting issues, and that DF'ers don't want to get to close to a 'bent because of the wobbly factor, long chains, etc., so I'm prepared to ride in the back like a good boy.
Does anyone know of any clubs that ride in North County San Diego on the weekends, who would not be adverse to 'bent rider joining them?

I just started checking out SDBC, and they seem like a nice bunch of fellows. I have no idea what their attitude is on recumbents, and frankly I didn't see at this weekend's ride, but it's probably worth a shot to check it out. If you can sustain up to 17 mph up hill, my guess is you could fit into any level group they have. I rode with the C+ level group on Saturday and at the speeds you are referring to, you would have easily been much faster than the pack.

I haven't ridden with these people personally but a co-worker rides with the North County Cycle Club http://northcountycycleclub.com/roadies.htm
From her description it sounds like a welcoming, laid back group. Of course bents are always welcome on all BF rides, but we're not a club as such - we're more of a crypto-fascist zombie cult.

Sounds like my kind of group. Do they force you to volunteer to fix any potholes you find along the ride? :D

I live in Escondido and ride every weekend whether it be by myself or with whatever group happens to be riding that weekend.
