Mountain Biking - Think I am getting a new bike!

The LBS has a Trek 8000 on sale for $740. I am going to put a deposit on it tomorrow and get it next week I think. I wasn't looking for a new bike but for that price I would be doing myself a diservice not to. At least that is what I am going to tell the wife when I get home. Wish me luck.

That's a good price for an 8000.

Was looking at the Trek sight and I think this bike maybe a 2002 itis red and silver. I will probably still get it since there is no difference other than color from 2003.

It's an 03 model. Excellent price for an 8000 ... those things usually go for around $900 to $1k. And you won't regret your buy. I love my 7000 because of its longer geometry. To me it's a lot more comfortable and aerodynamic. Of course, it's a bit of a pain doing an extended uphill on a road.

Please come back and review your impressions! I want to know how that ZR9000 junk works. ;)

Chi, how do you like the Trans Am saddle?

It's one of the older models but it works great. I'll post a pic of it when I get home. It doesn't look it, but it's actually very comfortable. It does make my feet or hands numb if I don't ride hard, so it's not for cruising. It's lightweight, looks great, and fits me very well. It's also leather, so it's hard to stain (esp. when you're riding through mud and dirt), and easy to clean up.

Like I said, I'll try to remember to post a pic of it when I get home.

Well, Igotthe wife's ok so I am going to get it tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it goes.
