I bike a 15mile road around a lake everytime I go biking (every other day). It's mostly flat, some uphill, some downhill. I have a road bike, and my average speed is about 17mph (according to monitor) and I do the 15miles in about 52 minutes. I'm 17, weigh 185lbs, height is 6'1". I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to what I can do to train better to become faster and stronger.

once pe week, do intervals. ride 20 mph as long as you can, rest until you recover, then do two more. over time you will be able to go longer between intervals.

Get a book that discusses training programs.

I just recently started reading The Ultimate Ride by Chris Carmichael. I know it'll answer most of my questions, but I was just trying to get a breif synopsis for while I'm reading it.

Well, the only way to get faster is to go faster.

What you are basically looking at to get faster is "speedplay." This is basically going all(or at a very high speed) out for a given time or distance(I prefer distance).

For strength, you should do weights, hills, and other drills. One that works well for me is one-legged drills, another is starting from a dead stop in a tough gear.

One thing you will want to do besides get faster is go farther..This requires long aerobic rides, which will help you with endurance and put down and aerobic base to build upon. Most training regimes start at this point, and I suggest you start here also.

The be all, end all training book is "The cyclist's training bible" by Joe Friel. It's high tech though.

You might want to look at Fitness Cycling, I think it is by Ed Burke and CTS, and is put out by Spectrum fitness.
